In which Lui and Shu meet by chance, but not under a circumstance the latter would favor.

I guess you could say it's a regular spring day in Beigoma. The sun is shining, birds are singing, people are doing people things. I myself kinda figured I'd just go ahead and do something outside, so I decided to go on a little stroll through town.

I walk through the park, taking in the little details- like the "W + R" someone carved into a tree, or the squirrels hopping through the trees and the birds perching on bird baths. A few people have brought their dogs to come play, throwing frisbees and sticks or tugging on a rope.

I've never been a personal fan of dogs, I prefer something a bit quieter, but there are a few cute ones in the group. Like a bulldog puppy, a pug, and hey, even a collie dog. One girl searches around, shouting for her dog every so often. I'm not too sure, but I think its name is "Shuku?"

What a dumb name for a dog. What does that even mean?

She sighs in defeat, muttering. "Man, what'm I gonna do if I can't find him?"

"I'm guessing you lost your dog?" I ask, causing her to jump in surprise. When she sees me her eyes light up in admiration.

"O- Oh my gosh, Lui Shirosagi! I'm so honored to meet you!" I smirk a little before she deflates. "But yeah, I lost my dog. I was getting Shuku a treat, but when I turned around he was gone! He usually comes back when I call him, but..."

I guess the nice weather, or just meeting someone who doesn't immediately run away from me, must be affecting my judgement, because I actually wanna help her. "I can help you find your dog," I offer. "I'm just wandering around, so I don't have anything better to do."

"Really?! Thank you so much!" She squeals, and despite my wanting to help her, I can't help but think that this girl's a little too loud. "Well, uh, Shuku has fluffy white fur and is about yea high-" She holds her hand up beside her middle. "And he's wearing a cute red bandana around his neck. He's super friendly and loves people, so if you call him he'll come to you without hesitation. He likes to lick, but if you tell him, "no lick" he'll stop. If he doesn't come, you can use these treats to get him to follow you."

She hands me a little cup filled with treats shaped like... Livers?

"I can't thank you enough, Lui," She says, smiling brightly. "Shuku is my baby boy, I dunno what I'd do if I lost him."

"It's no problem." I shrug. "Just stay here so I can find you if I find your dog." She nods, and then I continue along the path.

Geeze, this weather is really affecting my judgement. But hey, my parents would be proud of me.

The thought actually gives me more motivation to find Shuku, so I pick up the pace. Eventually I can hear a dog barking and decide to follow the sound, and as I get closer I can hear human yelping, too.

I find the sources of the barking and yelping at a rest stop along the jogging trail and I have to choke back a laugh. Shuku bops and bounces around, wagging his tail so fast it's basically a blur. He's trying to reach his target, but the bench is in the way. Shuku barks a few times before he tries to get closer, but his target jumps back.

"Ahhh, nonono! Stay back, little doggie!" Shu Kurenai yelps when Shuku hops to the other side of the bench, moving to the opposing side. "Oh, please go away!"

Shu's not wearing his usual getup, but a short-sleeved red hoodie and some black pants, which I guess is his training outfit. He must have been jogging and Shuku decided to say hi- and knowing that white fluff-ball is harmless just makes Shu yelping and yipping and trying to get away from him even funnier! I mean, he's acting like Shuku's a snake.
