In which Shu is having some purroblems.

"So, you don't know how this happened?" Daigo asks quietly, looking at me with clear concern.

"Not a clue," I sigh.

"You didn't meet anyone strange? Talk to some back alley shady guy?" I shake my head. "Hmm. Did you run into any cats acting strangely?"

"Not a single one. It was like no cat in the world existed when I was walking home that night."

"Then..." He gazes around a bit, shrugging in defeat when he looks turns back to me. "Did you eat anything strange?"

"Mm-mm." I shake my head again.

"But who just wakes up with this?" He gestures to my whole body, eyes flitting from my cat ears to my semi-fluffy cat tail. All a snowy white, like my hair.

"Who wakes up like this at all?" I shrug.

"Point taken. But why didn't you call right away?"

"Well, it happened Saturday, and I thought that maybe I could handle it myself over the weekend." I flatten my ears, looking at the bed we're sitting on nervously. "But I couldn't, of course."

"What are you gonna do about school? Skip it?"

I let out a startled yowl and shake my head. "No, I can't skip school! I might miss something important in math! Or science!"

"Yeah. I think it would be easy to hide your tail, but your ears..." He reaches up, tapping the edge of my ear. I give it a few flicks on reflex. "Maybe a hat or something?"

"I don't have any hats, though," I mumble. Daigo looks at the clock.

"We do have time. Maybe we could go pick up one from the store?"

"But what do we do before then?" I ask, tilting my head to the side.

"Simple." Daigo shrugs, then unties his bandanna and pulls it off, beckoning for me to scoot closer. Once I do, he ties it around my neck, turns it around, then pulls it over my face until it rests on top of my head. He stares at my face for a moment, then reaches up and loosens my bangs. "There. Now we don't have to worry about it until we buy you a hat."

"Thanks, Daigo," I say, getting up as he does.

"Not a problem. It looks good on you."

"Mrowrrrr!" I slap my hands over my mouth, blinking a few times. He stares at me until I move my hands. "I- I mean, t- thanks."

Daigo grins a little, and I look away. I grab Storm Spryzen and my apartment keys, tuck my tail into the waistband of my pants, Daigo grabs his backpack, then we're off. Nothing unusual happens on our way there, since no one else goes to the mall before 8 am. I'm worried that it won't be open, but apparently Daigo knows a specific shop that opens pretty early.

We spend a little bit looking around, then I decide to buy a pink cap with the WBBA logo on it. I return Daigo's bandanna and pull on the cap, asking. "How do I look?"

"Purrfect," He answers, tying on his bandanna with a grin, and I can't help but chuckle.

When we reach school we wait outside for our friends, discussing what we're going to do in our classes during the meantime.

"I've gotta turn in my history homework, but I'm not too worried about it."

"Yeah, history is pretty easy." Daigo shifts one of the straps until it's comfortable. "But hey, did you hear the rumors about that group project in science class? It has me worried."
