In which the Valentine's dance is coming around, so Shu and Wakiya make a bet with one another. Like all bets, it only works in favor of one person. (One-sided Shu x Wakiya. Lowkey Daigo x Ken. Revamp of Wanna Bet?)

After school lets out I head to the roof, surprised to see only one other member of the Bey club there. He glances over his shoulder at me as his Bey spins out.

"Hey, Wakiya," Shu greets, wiping sweat from his forehead.

"Hello, Shu. No one else here yet?"

"Not yet, I guess." He picks up Spryzen, turning to me and frowning. "Something up?"

"Why do you ask?" I huff and cross my arms, then he smiles a little.

"You just seem like you have something on your mind."

"Well, I don't know, I guess it's just all this stupid dance business." I strut over to the other side of the stadium and wave my hand. "I mean, it's a girl's ask, so you'd think they'd be lining up at my door, but nooo! They're all trying to ask you." I point at him, and Shu shifts uncomfortably.

"Yeah, I've noticed..."

"It's ridiculous! And you have been dodging left and right because you're not even invested in this whole dance, but they refuse to accept that."

"So you'd rather be picked second?"

"Better than not being picked at all."

"True."

I put my hands on my hips, raising an eyebrow. "Why haven't you accepted any of the offers? Surely there must be at least one girl that's piqued your interest."

He shakes his head. "I'm holding out for somebody else."

I scoff softly. "So not fair. What do you have that I don't? I'm rich, I'm classy, and I'm the best Blader in this school. Not to mention I'm far more attractive than you."

Shu shrugs again. "I guess they just don't stop and look at what they're missing. But, hey, how about a Bey battle?"

He clips Spryzen onto his launcher, and I cross my arms. "That does sound fun. Sure." I pull out Wild Wyvron and attach it to my launcher, then shift into my launch stance. "You ready?"

"Yeah."

I start to count with him, but then an idea hits me. "Wait." He lowers his launcher, frowning a little. "What if we made this battle more interesting?"

"How so?"

"A good old fashioned bet."

I see him perk up a little, and he smiles again. "Sounds like fun. What are you going to bet?"

"Regardless of whether you get a date or not, you are coming to the dance, right?"

"I promised Valt I would. He said he didn't want me to miss out," Shu answers with a shrug.

"Good. If I win the battle, you have to come to the dance wearing a dress."

He lifts his eyebrows, but he doesn't seem any less excited. "Alright then."

"What do you bet?"

I can tell by the look on his face that he already knows, but he draws it out for a few minutes, tapping his chin and looking around thoughtfully. "Hmm. What do I want to bet? Hmmmmm, hmm, no, that's not it. Hmm. No, no, that wouldn't work. Hmmhmmhmm... Ah, I've got it!"

He snaps his fingers, turning to me with the biggest grin I've ever seen from him. "If I win the battle, you have to take me to the dance as your date!"
