In which we see a story of love, the pain of separation, and a trial to overcome boundaries and physical barriers for love and friendship. (Shu x Lui, the first song is for the Kingdom of Ice and the second is for the Kingdom of Fire.)

Long ago in ancient times, there was only an ever-raging war between the searing heat and freezing cold. The weather was absolute chaos with no stability or control, and every living being was fighting for survival.

In the sun people standing in the light would burn to ashes, and in the blizzards people who dared to venture the snow would freeze almost instantly. The indoors were safer against the raging nature, but with the need for food and expansion many people were forced to brave the outside world every day. Fields of crops were watered by the melting bodies of those frozen, and thousands of homes were painted black by the ashes of those burned alive.

Then, one day, two children of mysterious origin and strange appearance came to the kingdom of the humans and asked for entrance to the ancient temple resting in the heart of the castle. They claimed to have a way to fix the ill weather, and both had a powerful aura about them. Because of this, the king of men granted them permission to enter the temple.

Together, the two children prayed in the temple and used it as a beacon, then projected their god-like powers through it and onto the world. Working in tandem, they used their powers to calm the war of the two elements and put the weather at peace.

The children created the four seasons we have and cherish now, then they divided the seasons among each other. The child of fire would protect the spring and summer, while the child of ice would protect the fall and winter.

Unfortunately, using so much of their powers paid a grave cost to the two children. Before they had been able to survive the intense, horrid weather of either element, but now... Now they were weak to their opposing element, and remaining in the heat or cold would severely cripple them, if they somehow did not die.

The king of men saw this and ordered the strongest citizens in his kingdom to act. Two groups formed and were sent out to save the children. One group rode to the powerful and mighty volcano of the east, whereas the other rode to the stoic and unrelenting tundra mountain in the west.

Thanks to the intense snow and heat of the mountain and volcano, the children recovered their strength and survived. To keep from risking their lives, they chose to remain in their respective locations. Unfortunately, this meant that they could never see each other again.

The child of fire could remain in his lands of spring and summer, but he could not venture the fall or survive the winter. His body would begin to fade and sizzle away, and the cold would blacken his skin and leave him trembling uncontrollably.

The child of ice could remain in his lands of fall and winter, but he could not trek in the spring or brave the summer. His body would begin to melt and drip away, and the heat would sap his strength and leave him stumbling, dizzy and disoriented.

But since dying to see each other would mean that the seasons would vanish, they resigned themselves to their duties. As such, they were crowned Kings and granted permission to build their kingdoms in their homes of ash and frost.
