In which Valt Aoi wakes up in an alternate universe where things have gone horribly wrong.

-----

"Valt, you are needed here, please come to our aid."

I turn around, coming face to face with the spirit of Valtryek.

"It's you," I gasp. "But wait, what do you mean?"

"In another world, the people need help. They need a savior... I don't want to put you in danger, but I alone am powerless. Together, we can make a difference. Please, Valt." Valtryek holds its hand out to me. Without hesitation, I reach out and take its hand.

"I'll help in any way I can."

I can see the relief in Valtryek's eyes and it whispers to me, "Thank you, partner!"

---

Where am I? Was I buried in my sleep? I thrash and fight my way out of the soil, coughing and spitting to get the dirt out of my mouth. I wait until I've caught my breath to shake it out of my hair. I reach out to brush it off of my legs and freeze, realizing my clothes are different.

"In this world, it's been six years since the- the tournament," I hear Valtryek wheeze, its voice weak.

Wait, what's wrong? Are you hurt?

"I am." I dig through the dirt, uncovering Genesis Valtryek and picking it up. It's lined with cracks and covered in scratches, plus Raul's Genesis Special is missing. "Spryzen Requiem did this to me, and I used the majority of the strength I had been able to gather bringing you to this world."

Well, you go ahead and rest. I'll try to find someone who can fix you.

"Alright, b- but please be careful, Valt. This is not the same Beigoma you know."

I will, Valtryek. I push myself to my feet and dust off the dirt. I don't feel too different, I don't really think I've gotten that much older.

I know that my backyard looks different, though, and so does the rest of Beigoma. The sky is all black and cloudy, and it's really dark outside. Just what happened here?

I make my way through the streets, chilled by how empty they are. No people, no cars, not even a stray cat or a bird anywhere. There's no sound aside from my footsteps and there's no wind, but the air is cold with a tense atmosphere. I keep glancing over my shoulder, worried that something will be there.

"Partner, go to the right, there's something there-" Valtryek groans in pain. "That you need to see. It will help you understand."

I follow Valtryek's instructions, following the street to my right. I start to hear voices and break into a run, jogging up to a tech store with a bunch of TVs inside. The door is gone so I go in, weaving through the aisles and glancing at the old DVD cases until I find a flat screen TV built into the far wall. It's surrounded by flyers and sign up sheets, and after giving it a few light pats it switches from static to playing a commercial.

It starts out playing some old timey tune, with the same type of border around the edges while the rest of the screen is black. An S appears on the screen, and I recognize it from Legend Spryzen's and Spryzen Requiem's top layer. It's glowing red and orange like fire, flickering at the edges.

"Do you dream of being as strong as Spryzen?"

I growl as I hear the voice of Theodore Glass, glaring at the screen as it continues. The fire around the S grows, consuming the black and giving way to a shot of the Requiem smashing through a dozen Beys in a row and winning the battle with a Burst Finish. It's in color, but the colors are dull, kind of tinged gray.
