In which Shu is desperate to find his true self again and save his friends from the monster he's become. The only question is- can he do it? Is he strong enough to fight his dark side, or is there really no changing the way time ticks on? (Continuation of The Future is Here.)
-----
I can't believe it... I can't believe the power-hungry monster I've become... How? How did this happen? Am I really so shallow and desperate that I'd throw away my friends- my family for a damn spinning-top game? Why...
"Is he gonna be okay?" Cuza whispers. "He's been sitting that way for a long time..."
"I don't know..." Shasa whispers back.
"This is really hard on him, I'm sure." Silas says quietly. "Just give him time. Maybe Valt can coax him out of it when he comes back."
"Where did he go, anyway?" Shasa asks.
"They're calling their friends and telling them the news. I imagine it's going to take a while to convince them, without physical evidence..." He answers.
"Well... We can't just leave Shu sitting like this..." Cuza murmurs, then I hear his footsteps draw closer and closer to me until he's crouching down by me. "Hey, buddy... You wanna talk about it?"
I shake my head a little, not trusting myself to speak. "Well, look on the bright side- now that you've seen the future, you can learn from your mistakes! That's not too bad, right?"
"... But why would I do something so horrible in the first place?" I whimper, slowly wrapping my arms around myself. "Forsaking all of the people who ever loved and cared about me just so I could get better at this stupid game... Am I really so... So... Heartless? Mindless? I'm even stooping lower than Lui Shirosagi..."
"Maybe you didn't have a choice, Shu." Shasa chimes in sitting down at my other side. "Ashtem could have forced you into the project, and then the Requiem possessed you..."
"But if it was my choice-"
"Then you're a terrible friend, yeah." Silas interrupts, ignoring the glares Cuza and Shasa shoot him. "Sorry for not sugarcoating it, but if you can stand up to Lui than you can stand up to the truth. You went nuts, you went power hungry, and you gave up your life for Beyblade. But now that you know, you can fix it, right? So don't just sit around moping and wallowing in self-hatred and do something about it instead!"
"Silas-" Shasa hisses, but I place a hand on her shoulder and offer a small smile.
"He's right, you two. I need to fix this, instead of stewing in it." I push myself up, feeling determination coursing through my veins like liquid fire. "I have to put a stop to Red Eye before he goes too far. If he won't listen to his friends... Maybe he'll listen to himself."
I step back a few paces, glancing around until I find a map that points in the directions of the training rooms. "I'm going to get him..." I growl, then I take off running.
"Shu!" Shasa and Cuza yell.
"Let him go. Maybe he's right." Silas says. Soon after that, I find my way back into the hall with all of the training rooms. I know Red Eye will be in here- if he's me, then he's going to be training as much as possible. The question is which room?
I walk through the quiet halls, listening hard for the sound of a Bey spinning or my own voice shouting 'let it rip'. A walk past a lit but silent room and stop, feeling a kind of pull coming from it. That's it.
I turn back, clicking the button to open the door and stepping in. A man with teal eyes and brown, gold and white hair meets my gaze, an eerie grin appearing on his lips. I recognize him instantly, he's the manager of the American team- Theodore Glass.
