In which Lui Shirosagi gets stuck in the hospital after an unfortunate accident with the ripcord-machine. He supposes things can't get much worse but then Zac, Xander and (a very reluctant) Shu come to prove him wrong...

-----

The heart-rate monitor beeped periodically and very annoyingly, and the TV droned on, but the volume was too low for Lui to actually hear what the characters were saying. Not that he was too bothered, he didn't care enough to watch 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' no matter how many times Zac told him he could use a lesson or two.

Every time he took a breath, the smell of harsh anti-bacterial sprays and possibly-bleach invaded his nose and made his head hurt. Either that, or it was hurting because of the near-concussion. Regardless, he was this close to demanding that someone open a damn window.

He couldn't get very comfortable, either. Part of it was because of the hospital gown and the hole in the back that left him bare in places he'd rather not be, but it was mostly because of the pain in his head and his ribs. The sixth and seventh ribs had been fractured on his left side and both sides were extremely bruised. Every breath hurt his sides tremendously.

Lui longed very deeply to be out of the hospital already, but they told him that he would be there for a while yet so they could keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't aggravate his injuries. Maybe if he had lied about where his parents were, they'd have let him leave sooner.

And the worst part was that he wasn't even going to be able to train. He was going to be sitting in this hospital for at least a month, wasting away and letting precious time go to waste- he needed every second he could get to train to beat Free De La Hoya, his worst enemy.

He blamed Valt for this, 100%. If that little pest hadn't come in and got on his nerves so much when he was trying to train with the ripcord machine, this wouldn't have happened.

Or... If he hadn't pulled the cord and dropped the handle before he turned to chase down Valt, planning to strangle him. Because, then... The cord wouldn't have caught on his ankle, then yanked him off his feet... He wouldn't have fell on his chest, the cord wouldn't have managed to somehow wind itself around him... And it wouldn't have yanked him back and slammed his head into the machine.

... Okay, maybe it was, like, 97% Valt's fault.

At least the little nuisance had reacted fast enough to call Shu... Who called 911 for Lui.

... Anyway.

Lui had two small comforts at present. Number one, first and foremost, was Lost Luinor. He held his treasured Beyblade in his right hand, gently thumbing the dragon heads on the top layer as he mused on his slow decent into madness.

The second comfort was that no one else was in the hospital room with him. A nurse would come in to check on the dragon Blader every once in a while, but at least he knew that the young Blader did not feel up to talking.

Lui sighed softly, closing his eyes and telling himself. At least it can't get too much worse...

He opened his eyes, looking at the foot of the bed and realizing... The rest of the Supreme Four had come to visit him.

Would you look at that, it can get worse.

He didn't say anything, instead staring at the group with his brows furrowed. Xander and Zac looked concerned for the dragon Blader and seemed very ready to care for him themselves if he requested (which he wouldn't even do if they were the last certified doctors on earth), while Shu looked incredibly indifferent. He was most likely there because Zac and Xander dragged him along...
