In which Lui Shirosagi finally finds out who his soul mate is, but not in the most fantastic way... (Shu x Lui.)

-----

Soul mates are supposed to find each other by a black stain where they touch each other for the first time. When they do, it changes from pitch black to colors- millions of them. From there, you just- I don't know, you just do soul mate things.

Personally, I've never cared for finding my soul mate, and I never will. What's the point, anyway? They'd just tie me down when I need to be free to do what I want. Beyblade and school is all I want to focus on right now, anyway.

The most positive thing I can say about it is at least mine looks kinda cool- it's this weird black bar with bumpy sides edges right on my right cheekbone, though I do have to wonder what contact will create such a shape. Can soul marks be lit up through a stamp or something?

Before I can think further on it, my train of thought is derailed by some fingers snapping in front of me. "Lui? Sun to Lui!"

I blink, then turn a glare on Zac as he withdraws his hand. "Snap your fingers in my face again and you're gonna lose them, Zac," I growl, baring my teeth to make a point.

"Well, you're the one who zoned out," He replies, shrugging nonchalantly. "Anyways, I was trying to ask if you wanted to battle."

"Tch, no. I've battled you three plenty of times."

He rolls his eyes. "I know that, but I thought I'd ask to be, oh, I don't know, nice? But if you say so, then I won't force you."

He goes back over to Xander and Shu, then after a moment of talking Xander and Shu step up to the plate.

Now, I want to establish that Shu has already been having a pretty bad day. I overheard him telling Xander about not getting enough sleep, missing the first period of school and getting in trouble for that, then after school and detention he was on his way here, but then a big freakin' dog started chasing him around. (I don't get the dog part, but it's funny all the same.) Oh, and, uh, he wasn't too happy when I laughed at him for running away from the dog.

So at this point, any decent person would probably either clam up or offer some encouragement, right? Valt certainly would, and I know my Dad and Pop would, but I'm not them.

"Hey, Shu," I call to get his attention. "Don't doze off during the match, you're already bad enough!"

I wasn't expecting him to say anything, and he doesn't, of course, but boy! The glare he gives me speaks more words than his mouth ever could.

"Oh, don't listen to him, star," Zac coos, standing between them and acting as the ref. "Ready? Set!"

"Three! Two! One! LET IT RIIIP!" They launch, and I go stand by Zac to get a better view.

Xcalius and Spryzen clash, neither Bey giving an inch... Until Spryzen manages to knock Xcalius away, then they just go right back to the grind. It's a pretty dull battle, even when they bust out their special moves and Xcalius gets a Burst finish.

"Wow, that was weak," I huff, smirking at Shu afterwards. He doesn't even glare at me this time, picking up Spryzen's pieces and reassembling them. "Glad I didn't go up, it barely would have been a warm up."

Shu sighs, still ignoring me. "Great match, Xander."

"Unlike someone we know," I say, interrupting Xander and earning a glare from him. Shu simply shakes his head and asks,

"Lui, if you're so bored, why don't you just Beybattle someone instead of fighting a losing battle?"

"And what might that be?" I question, and he looks to me with his eyes hooded and eyebrows furrowed- definitely an annoyed look.
