In which ever since he was little, Hyde has avoided finding his soul mate like the black plague. He doesn't date, he doesn't crush, and he most certainly doesn't ask others about their marks, no sir. Unfortunately, it seems as though destiny is going to flag him down whether he likes it or not... (Hyde x a surprise Blader. They're both the same age and they may be OOC.)

"I am not going to find my soul mate!" Hyde yelled, glaring death at Phi. The two little boys were standing in the grassy courtyard, arguing over this whole 'soul mate' affair.

The problem was that their marks had just appeared this morning, and Hyde's first reaction had been to try and scrub his off with a steel-wool sponge. Now he was wearing over-sized gardening gloves to hide the black stains on his palms, and he was incessantly tugging on his sleeve to hide the black stain along the inside of his arm.

Phi, of course, never wanted to miss an opportunity to drive his little brother crazy and thus swooped in to torment him. "You so are!" The blue-and-red-eyed boy laughed. "And then you're going to hold hands and cuddle and kiss!"

"No!" His brother shouted, stamping his foot. Phi ignored him, swooning mockingly and teasing him.

"You're going to be soooo in love, and then you're going to protect them with all your heart!"

"Nooooo!"

"And then you're gonna make babies and have a family, and all the while you'll grow old but you'll always love them!"

"NO, NO, NO, NO!" Hyde shrieked, stamping his foot again and yelling. "I DON'T WANNA FIND MY SOUL MATE AND I'M NOT GONNA FALL IN LOVE!"

"Yes you are!" Phi crossed his arms triumphantly. "And when you do, they're gonna be so pretty and perfect for you that you won't even be able to fight your feelings!"

The younger brother clenched his fists, trying frantically to think up the perfect counter-argument. "W-Well, then- then I hope that when you find your soul mate they're the exact opposite of what you want!"

The older brother blinked, beginning to scowl as Hyde continued. "I hope they're a country bumpkin and smelly and noisy! I hope they scream all the time like you hate, and I hope that you know they're annoying but you love them anyway and you can't find anyone sophisticated like you or whatever that you love because they're not your soul mate!"

"No way!" Phi shouted back, clenching his own fists.

"YES WAY!"

"NO WAY!" Then he turned, beginning to run back inside. "PAPAAAAA!"

"PAAAAAPAAAAA!" Hyde screamed at the same time, chasing after his older brother. It took two hours to get them to stop fighting, especially since their father moreso insisted on finishing his work before resolving their conflict- if what he did can even be called a resolution. He just gave them ice cream and told them to go play in their rooms...

A few years later...

"You know, it's ever so odd how people put up so much of a fuss over their soul marks. I hear that sometimes, they even put their whole lives on hold to go find their soul mate."

Hyde looked over to Kyle, who was simply staring at him from behind the mask. He wasn't quite sure what brought on this observation, but regardless he put a hold on his sit-ups to reply.

"Do they, now? Ha, what a joke. I can't even imagine doing something that stupid for someone I don't know!"

"Yes, I figured you wouldn't. But you know, it is a romantic notion, going on a great, fantastic quest to find love."
