"Are you excited for the concert, dear?" Mother asks, sounding lighthearted from her end in America.
"Of course I am! I'm always so excited to see a concert by Zac the Sunrise and his Superstars!"
"And you promise you'll be safe, right?"
"Of course, Mother! I wouldn't dream of putting myself in danger." I say reassuringly.
"I know, I just can't help but worry about my dear little girl. You're only eleven, after all..."
"But you do say time and time again that I'm clever beyond my years." I point out, unable to help the smile on my face. She hums softly, agreeing with my point. "Anyways, I should get to my hotel now, Mother. It's getting late."
"Okay, dear. I'll call you back later!"
"Au revoir! I love you dearly!" I chirp, waiting until the dialtone sounds to let out the heavy breath I've been holding. She thinks I'm in Beigoma, Japan again when really, I'm in Mexico. I'm not even going to see a concert by Zac the Sunrise, I'm going to look for the fabled Snake Pit.
She would have me by my neck if she knew the truth. She'd put me under house arrest until I was dead and in the grave, and in the meantime she'd lock me in a cage and throw away the key.
I don't care if she finds out before I get back, so long as she doesn't come to stop me. I have to do this, I have to find my big brother.
Three years he's been gone now, presumed dead and swept under the rug. But I know he's not dead, he just left. He ran away because Father's never understood him, nor has he ever made any effort to...
And according to what the other members of the Incredible Six- the best Bladers in America- there's only one place for a Blader to go and hide and never have to come out. The Snake Pit.
From there, it was a matter of locking down on the location. It was easy once I got in contact with dear Zac the Sunrise, and then he connected me to a group of boys who had gone in search of their own friend, Shu Kurenai. The Wakiya Murasaki I spoke to wasn't exceptionally pleasant, and I had to make an agreement to- when I get back- join Sunbat United in return for the information.
The moment I agreed, he was very helpful and detailed. I have every detail written down, and I'm going to make the most of it, starting now. I set off towards the distant jungles, hiking through them for what feels like hours, dodging roots and vines tangled across the jungle floor and the dangerous snakes in the trees.
It's a perilous journey that's exhausting and forces me to take several breaks in between. My blouse is soaked with sweat and I feel like I'm practically melting, but I'm not too bothered. This will all be worth it when I find my brother.
When I'm strong enough I push myself back up, heading along the path again. I soldier on through the elements, and by the afternoon, the fruits of my labor pay off. I reach a big, foreboding temple in a clearing, and before it lies a Bey stadium.
I go around the stadium and to the door, reaching out to knock on the door, but a voice stops me.
"Aren't you a little far from home, miss?"
