In which Valt has had a lot of bad ideas, but this is by far the worst... Or is it? (Possibly OOC Red Eye, NONROMANTIC. KEEP YO' SHIPPER THOUGHTS OUT OF IT.)

-----

"Matches aren't meant to be fun." Red Eye hissed, glaring at Valt. The blue-haired Blader gasped softly, unable to believe the words that were coming out of his old friend's mouth. "Winning is everything!"

"What do you think happened to him, you guys?" Valt asked quietly, looking up from the broken spin track of his Bey to the group of friends around him.

"Obviously, Shu's changed. He doesn't see reason anymore, and we can't make him." Silas huffed, crossing his arms. "Shu Kurenai is gone."

"No, I don't believe that!" Valt shouted.

"Look at your Bey, Valt! If there was anything left of your old friend, he wouldn't have done that!" Silas yelled back.

Valt wilted, his shoulders sagging. Shasa patted his shoulder, trying to comfort her downtrodden friend.

"It's like he was cursed..." Rantaro muttered. "And if he was, I'd bet a large amount of my nonexistent money that the Shadow Man was Theodore Glass."

"Pfft, cursed..." Silas snorted. "And what would you do then? Wake him up with 'true love's kiss'?"

"THAT'S IT!" Valt shouted cheerfully, jumping up. "That's gotta be it! Theodore has Shu brainwashed, under a curse! I can save him!"

Everyone stared at him, eyes wide and blinking out of sync from each other. "... What?" Rantaro questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"How are you going to?..." Silas trailed off, realizing that Valt was taking this whole thing very seriously. "Wait, do you-"

"No love is truer than the love between two of the bestest friends!" Valt explained to Rantaro, unintentionally interrupting Silas. "Am I right?!"

"Well-" The blond tried to get in more than one word, but Valt was already running off, yelling Red Eye's real name as he did. "... Should we stop him?..."

"I think so?..." Shasa mumbled.

"How on earth is he gonna kiss some sense into Red Eye?" Cuza asked no one in particular. "That's like trying to kiss a tiger with a ring of meat around your neck."

"Rawrk! He's dead! He's dead!" Carl squawked, much to everyone's dismay.

"What are you doing here?" Red Eye growled, glaring down the Blader he used to call his best friend. Theodore stood nearby, watching silently.

"I know what's wrong with you." Valt answered calmly, meeting Red Eye's glare with a determined gaze.

"What might that be?"

"You're under a curse, Shu. Theodore cursed you to be a horrible person, but I can save you!"

"I don't need saving." Red Eye hissed, while in the background Theodore squinted at Valt in a confused manner. "And I'm not cursed. I'm on a quest to become the most powerful Blader in the world! You cannot stop-"

Valt interrupted the red-eyed Blader by cupping Red Eye's face in his hands and pulling him close as he forced him into... A kiss. Theodore's eyes widened as he let out a soft 'oh my' and Red Eye was stunned, frozen like a deer caught in the headlights of a speeding truck. A few more seconds passed before he came to his senses and pushed Valt away.

"W-What are you doing?!" The possessed Blader shrieked, his face cherry-red with blush. Even though he had hundreds of adoring fangirls and he was technically supposed to be detached from his emotions right now, things like flirting and kissing were just the thing to catch him off guard.

"I'm breaking the curse with true love's kiss!" Valt explained with beaming eyes, causing Red Eye's eyes to widen tremendously and his pallor to flare up further. "Did it work?!"

"True love's what?!" He squawked. "Wha- are you- how- why- no! No, it didn't work!" Red Eye clenched his fists. "I'm not under some spell. I am growing stronger with the Requiem and-"

Valt tried to swoop in for another spell-breaking kiss, causing Red Eye to cut himself off with a somewhat girly shriek. "C'mon, Shu, I wanna save you!"

"Shu is gone! There is only Red Eye!"

Valt managed to catch his best friend again and kissed him, but it didn't last very long. When he was pushed away again, he asked. "Did it work?!"

"No! L-Listen, Valt, I-I-I just don't feel that way about you!"

"Well, yeah! Because Theodore put a curse on you to make you forget your friends and the true Blading Spirit! But I can break you free with the power of true love's kiss!" He took the flustered Blader's hands in his own. "No love is truer than the bond between two best friends! That's what you always said, right?"

"Eh..." Red Eye blinked, suddenly remembering the time he and Valt had been watching Disney movies together, one rainy day that was months and months ago.

"Man... I hope I find true love one day." Valt sighed, resting his cheek on his fist. Shu chuckled softly before he spoke.

"You've already found true love, Valt."

"I have?" The blue-haired Blader asked, looking at Shu with an eyebrow raised high. "Who is it?"

"It's me." The red-eyed Blader murmured, smiling at Valt cheerfully. "We're best friends, and there's no love that's truer than the love shared between two best friends. We're inseparable."

"... Yeah, you're right!" Valt chimed, throwing his arms around the other boy. They both laughed a bit before putting on the next movie.

Red Eye's heart clenched in his chest at the memory of a time he'd long forgotten. A memory he gave up for power. He didn't realize he was crying until he felt something wet dripping down his cheek, and that Valt was staring at him with worried eyes.

The red-eyed Blader sniffled, a small smile gracing his lips before he leaned forward and planted them against Valt's for a moment, then he pulled away. The blue-haired Blader stared up at him hopefully, the edges of his mouth curling up a bit.

"Valt... Let's go home." Shu spoke softly, lacing his fingers with Valt's.

"Yeah, let's."

And so the two left the room hand in hand, friends again, while Theodore just stood there and wondered what the hell it was that just happened.
