In which Shu and Rantaro go camping to practice their magic in peace, but things don't go according to plan when the rest of the Supreme Four crashes the party. (Witch AU.)

"His head topples to the ground, expressionless," Shu narrates in a dramatic voice. "You fall to your knees and catch your breath. You're finally safe from Shia LeBeouf."

"Thank the gods," I groan.

"Ha ha, yeah, the first time I heard it, I thought he'd never-"

"No, I mean thank the gods you're done with the song, Shu," I interrupt. "I didn't know it was gonna be so graphic. Or so strange. Who is Shia LeBeouf?"

"I think he's an actor from America. But come on, it's funny!"

"Not when we're actually in the woods!"

"Okay, okay, fine." He huffs, then he looks to the area ahead and smiles. "We're here! This is our campsite."

"Awesome," I sigh, following him to the campsite. "So, I know we're here to practice magic and junk, but why so late in the night?"

"Because it's almost the witching hour, Rantaro. When the clock strikes twelve our magic will be at its strongest, and we'll be able to practice more." He holds his flashlight under his chin, grinning like a psychopath as he growls. "And we'll be able to hear the cries of the undead, OoOoOh!"

"... Do you want me to stay here or not? Because if I hear crying, I'm bailing." I shiver fearfully.

"Aw, c'mon, I'm just playing." He lowers the flashlight, smiling sheepishly. Then he pulls off his backpack and sets it on the ground beside the wagon with more camp stuff, and I do the same. "But anyway, now that we're here we can start practicing. I wanted to go over summoning first."

"Just summoning?" I ask, raising an eyebrow. "What about dousing?"

"Well, it's the middle of the night, it's pitch black out, and only one of us has a map. I don't want either of us getting lost or bit by any critters out."

"Oh, yeah." I rub the back of my neck bashfully. "That makes sense."

"So I'll try first, and when I inevitably drop firewood on my head, you can go ahead and summon the rest."

"Okay. Then I can practice a healing spell."

"Exactly!" He chirps. Then he takes a few steps back and clears his throat. "Tinder, kindling and fuel for fire, I am calling out to you. I summon you before me, at my feet. Appear!"

A pile of thin and thick twigs appear at Shu's feet, sitting on the dirt soundly. His eye's light up and he claps his hands. "Yes!" Then a bigger stick- probably a small branch without the littler limbs- appears over him and conks him in the head. "Aghdbgjedn!"

"Ooooh." Shu swears under his breath, rubbing the top of his head. "I nearly had it that time!"

I go over, placing one hand on the top of his head and holding his his shoulder to keep him still with the other. "Alright, um, bruises and bumps, heal this hit so there isn't a- hmmmm- a lump." I shrug, then Shu sighs in relief when my magic heals him.

"Thanks, Rantaro. I'll get to be as good as you at summoning one of these days." He grins up at me, and I can see a glint of jealousy in his eyes. "Seriously. Silent summoning is one of the hardest spells I know." I smile sheepishly, then I pull my hands away. "Well, you can go ahead and summon the rest." He nudges the pile with his foot. "I think we're going to need a bit more fuel than this."
