Connecting Thoughts

Everyone was stunned. Sasuke looked like he was going to kill Naruto. I think I even saw Sakura's nose bleeding a little bit. And me? I don't know why I was surprised.

Soon enough, my shock was replaced by amusement. Uncontrollable amusement.

I turned to Sasuke and buried my face in his shoulder to keep my balance as I started shaking with laughter.

I peeked over Sasuke's shoulder in time to see Naruto land a hit on Kaguya. I was surprised she actually fell for something as stupid as that.

Sasuke and I teleported Kaguya between us and Naruto, almost making physical contact, but before we could, Kaguya teleported us to an ice dimension - kind of like when she teleported us to that lava place – locking Sasuke, Naruto and I in the ice.

Kaguya wasted no time in trying to absorb my friends again. I tried to break free, but ice isn't so easy to break. Luckily, I didn't have to try very hard because Sasuke used his Amaterasu to break all three of us out of the ice.

Suddenly, a portal opened up behind Sasuke and a hand came through. It grabbed him and yanked him through the portal. I grabbed his hand to try and save him, but eventually, I was dragged through the portal with him.

Once we realised what had happened, Sasuke yanked his hand away angrily. "Why did you follow me?!"

"I wasn't about to lose you again!"

He groaned in exasperation. "I'm trying to keep you safe here! You're Itachi's wife, I just want to honour his wishes. If he knew you were putting yourself in danger..."

I cut him off. "Itachi didn't control me when he was alive and he sure as hell doesn't control me now. Besides, as I told him right before he died – repeatedly – I DON'T NEED PROTECTION!" I took a deep breath and looked at him with a sad expression. "What happened to us? We used to be inseparable and now, it seems all we do is argue".

He shrugged his shoulders. "I guess... we grew up and life got in the way".

"I'm sorry," I whispered with a saddened tone.

"So am I". He moved closer and wrapped his arms around me in a hug that I hesitantly returned. I sighed in relief. I hoped this was the end of all this. He pulled away and gave me a deadly serious look. "Just promise me that you won't question my choices anymore".

I shook my head. "I can't do that".

"Why?"

"Because we made a pact. Sakura and I talked about it and we were gonna bring Team 7 into it; a Team 7 pact". He opened his mouth to argue but I cut him off. "Yes, you are and always will be a member of Team 7. Whether you like it or not.

"'Whenever one of us falls into the darkness, the others will do whatever it takes to bring us back'. That's the pact. I promised I would help you and that's exactly what I'm going to do, even if it means I 'question your choices'".

I looked around and finally noticed that we were in the desert. I inclined my head. "The others will figure out a way to get us out of here and back to the battlefield. In the meantime, I'm going to try and meet them halfway". I then walked away, leaving Sasuke to trail after me.

I wasn't sure how long we'd been walking for when suddenly, a portal opened up in front of us with Sakura and Obito visible from the other side. We tried to run towards the portal when it started to close. Worried that we wouldn't make it in time, I grabbed Sasuke's wrist and teleported us to them. Sasuke managed to catch Sakura as she collapsed while I focused on healing Obito, who looked to be in way worse shape than Sakura.

Once we were all feeling better, we made our way back to the battlefield using Kamui. Sakura and Obito stayed with Kakashi Sensei so they could fully recover while Sasuke raced to support Sasuke. I chose to stay with the group so I could continue to heal Obito.

We watched as Kaguya continued to fight Naruto. She kept attacking his clones with these bones protruding from her hands (the clones turning to dust). Suddenly, we saw a bone go through the one with the truth-seeking orbs surrounding him – who we all thought was the real Naruto. We watched as his body started to turn to dust. We were all very surprised – and grateful – when he disappeared in a puff of smoke before he fully disintegrated.

Right after that, Naruto revealed himself. I have to say, I was quite impressed with the intelligence of this plan. I didn't think Naruto had it in him.

Kaguya retaliated by changing the landscape yet again and increasing the gravity, sending everyone towards the ground.

Despite also being effected by the gravity she concocted, Kaguya managed to raise her hands and shot her bones at Naruto and Sasuke, who just barely managed to dodge it.

She raised her hands again and got ready to aim. With Naruto and Sasuke too weak to dodge a second time, Obito and Kakashi Sensei raced to protect them.
