That's when Sasori finally caught up to us. With that, we made our way back to the hideout. We arrived to see everyone already gathered. "You're late," Pain pointed out.

Deidara was struggling to come up with excuses. I rolled my eyes and shrugged my shoulders. "We ran into a bit of trouble along the way, but it wasn't anything we couldn't handle". With that, we took our places and the Sealing of the One-Tails began.

I had to do my best not to so much as look at Gaara. If I did, I might have just jumped down and saved him.

It wasn't long before we found out we were being pursued by the Hidden Leaf. I did my best to hide my smirk, although it did not go unnoticed by Itachi. We agreed that we needed to stall them to give us time to finish the sealing.

The plan was to use a Jutsu of Pain's doing, where Pain would allocate a portion of an individual's chakra to a living human sacrifice. This would cause the sacrifice to become the individual's identical copy, complete with perfect imitations of the original's Kekkei Genkai and unique weapons. The first was Guy Sensei. "Leave him to me," Kisame volunteered. "I know him. I have a personal score to settle with him".

"I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you," I added. "The guy is horrible with faces. He probably doesn't even remember you".

He smirked. "I find it very difficult to believe he could forget me".

I just shrugged my shoulders. "Suit yourself". With that, he was off.

A moment later, we found out that Team Kakashi was also getting closer. We were trying to decide who to go until Zetsu said, "The Leaf Shinobi should go, both of them". Itachi and I glared at him before we were sent to the middle of the forest.

I groaned. "This is such a pain!" I was really hoping I wouldn't have to fight my friends.

Itachi laughed as Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi Sensei and an old woman came into view.

I noticed how Sakura was staring at me with hurt in her eyes, Naruto was glaring at Itachi, and Kakashi Sensei was trying not to look at me, probably for fear that he'd compromise my mission.

This was exactly why I didn't want to see them, because it broke my heart to see them looking at me like that. I wanted nothing more than to run up to them and tell them everything, but I couldn't compromise my mission or let anything happen to them. If anything happened to them because of me, I'd never forgive myself. Instead, I once again removed all emotion from my face.

I unsheathed my sword and activated my Sharingan. "Sorry guys, but this is as far as you go".

In that few seconds we were talking, Itachi had already managed to put Naruto under a Genjutsu. I was impressed, even if he was my husband.

Kakashi Sensei and I ran to each other, preparing to strike with our weapons, but we only blocked from the other's attack. "Are you really going to do this?" he whispered so only I could hear.

I gritted my teeth. "Shut up and fight!" We then pushed each other back, causing us to jump back away from each other. Since that wasn't my real body, I couldn't risk Pain finding out the truth.

Suddenly, Sakura had managed to get to Naruto and break the Genjutsu. I narrowed my eyes at them. Kakashi Sensei started charging towards Itachi and the two of them started fighting.

My sword held high, I charged toward Sakura, pretending to attack her. I threw many "attacks" at her, which she swiftly dodged. I was impressed by her development in skill. I gave her many openings in which to attack me, but she made no such move.

Frustrated, I stopped moving altogether, but so did she. "You're trying not to hurt me because you still see me as your comrade, am I right? The only way to defeat me is to come at me full force, with the intent to kill. Because that's the only way you're getting past me and to Gaara". I looked over at Kakashi Sensei, hinting at the words I couldn't say; 'Attack me, defeat me, save Gaara'.

He gave me a subtle nod, indicating that he understood. "She's right. This is no longer the girl you used to know. She's a member of the Akatsuki now. She's our enemy, and the only way to get to Gaara is to defeat her".

I smirked. After a bit of hesitation, she started to come at me, preparing to punch me. I quickly jumped out of the way, and she ended up punching the tree behind me instead, causing it to instantly snap in half. My eyes widened. 'She's become like Aunty Tsunade!'

She threw punch after punch at me, which I swiftly dodged. I was so focused on Sakura, I didn't notice Naruto sneaking up behind me until a kunai went flying towards him, causing him to disappear in a puff of smoke. I looked behind me and shot Itachi a grateful smile. In that one moment I was distracted, Sakura had managed to land a blow on me, causing me to tumble back until I landed next to Itachi. I quickly healed my bruises with my Medical Ninjutsu before facing off against them again.

Suddenly, the air started to get thick with fog. 'The Hidden Mist Jutsu'. I stayed by Itachi's side as he was more likely to see through the mist. It wasn't long before Kakashi Sensei came into view. I used the Fireball Jutsu at Kakashi Sensei, but he just dodged it. It seemed that he was starting to figure out that something wasn't right, and I couldn't help but smirk.

He went under the ground in an attempt to use the Headhunter Jutsu, but Itachi just managed to avoid Kakashi Sensei's attack. Itachi then attempted to cast a Genjutsu on Kakashi Sensei. Suddenly, Kakashi Sensei grabbed a hold of him, revealing the one in Itachi's arms to be a shadow clone. Kakashi Sensei told Naruto to hit both his shadow clone and himself, much to my confusion. Using a shadow clone, Naruto rushed at Itachi and the Kakashi shadow clone with his Rasengan, defeating him.

After that, everyone turned to me. I smirked, realising that I was finally going to get defeated, but I wasn't going to go down without a fight. I raced toward Sakura first, intending for the two strongest to be the ones to bring me down. While I was "focused" on Sakura, Kakashi Sensei charged towards me with his Chidori while Naruto came at me with his Rasengan at the same time. They both hit me at the exact same time, causing me to go flying back. I couldn't help but smile as I hit the ground.

I opened my eyes at the same time as Itachi and Kisame to see we'd arrived back at the Sealing area. I was happy knowing they'd once again be on their way here, although I'm pretty sure my teammates thought it was because we'd managed to stall them enough.

After what seemed like forever, we had finally finished the sealing. I watched as Gaara fell to the floor, heartbroken to see my friend dead.

Just as we had finished, we'd discovered that the Hidden Leaf ninja had already arrived. Since Deidara, Sasori and I were the only ones that were actually there, we had to be the ones to stop them. "This Nine-Tailed Jinchūriki, what is he like?" Sasori asked Itachi.

"He's the one who bursts in and barks first". I tried not to laugh at his accurate description.

"Well (Y/N), anything else to add?" Deidara asked me.

I thought for a moment before I shook my head. "No, I think Itachi pretty much summed it up". Then I remembered something. "But we shouldn't underestimate him, he's stronger than he seems". With that, everyone left, leaving me, Deidara and Sasori alone.
