The units all split up to search for the enemy in different regions of the land. Our unit was running through the desert when we started to sense enemies nearby. We stayed hidden while Gaara used a Jutsu to survey the situation. "There are five. Among them is my father".
"Who are the other four?" I asked him.
"The Second Mizukage, Second Tsuchikage, Third Raikage and one of the Legendary Sannin".
I whipped my head towards him at the mention of the Sannin. "Can I see?"
Before he could form a reply, I slipped a snake out of my arm and slid it towards the figures.
When I saw who was there, my eyes widened in shock. "I don't believe it!" He turned to me, waiting for me to explain. "It's my mother!" She looked exactly as I remembered all those years ago. The only difference was the black, soulless eyes that replaced her usual ebony ones.
Once the 3rd Tsuchikage had joined up to face his former mentor, we moved in to attack. Along the way, half the unit split off to help the 1st unit, so we were only at half our strength.
Gaara sent a wave of sand towards the enemy, but it was quickly countered with his father's gold dust. The Tsuchikage sent the particle style against his former mentor, who countered it with his own. To complete our attack, I sent a barrage of crows – a technique Itachi had taught me – and sent them to attack our enemies, but with the Fireball Jutsu, my mother was easily able to destroy my attack.
Gaara greeted his father. He started by explaining his situation to his father. "I am no longer the Jinchūriki you created". The Former Kazekage's eyes widened. "Some time ago, those who now control you removed Shukaku, the One-Tail, from me and in doing so, killed me". I looked away guiltily, which did not go unnoticed by my ever-perceptive mother. "But thanks to the assistance of Granny Chiyo and my friends, I was revived and I'm still alive today".
"You mean Granny Chiyo did that for you...?" the Former Kazekage paused and his eyes widened. "Hold on, you said 'friends?' Are you telling me you actually have friends?"
I looked at him, slightly offended. "Of course he does. There's one of them right here".
Gaara looked at his father with no emotion. "Six, father. You made six attempts to kill me".
I raised an eyebrow at him. 'That's a little much'.
"And each time, my fear and hatred of you increased," Gaara continued. "But I no longer harbour any hatred for you. Now, I'm even able to understand why you did it. I've become Kazekage. It is a leader's duty to eliminate threats against one's village". His father's eyes widened.
I nodded in agreement. "I'd say he's even the wisest of all the current Kage. He even managed to put all of them in their place at the Five Kage Summit".
The Tsuchikage agreed with me. "He's also been named the Commander-in-chief of the Allied Shinobi Forces' main battle regiment. Despite his young age, he not only calls himself 'Kage,' but has the respect of the other Kage as well". I smiled softly at Gaara.
The five of them begged us to stop them.
Gaara started fighting his father as the rest of the unit charged in. He managed to trap him in sand shaped like a woman I believed to be his mother. That's when the Fourth Kazekage decided to tell his son the truth about his childhood, his mother and his uncle.
As his father was sealed away, Gaara broke down crying. I jumped over to his floating sand and wrapped my arms around him. We stayed like that until he stopped crying.
Eventually, I pulled away and turned towards my mother, who was watching us intently. "I'm going to need your help with this," I spoke to him. "I need to speak to my mother, so I need to stall her sealing as much as possible. When I give the signal, I need you to seal her away. It won't work if I do it because she'll see me coming. Let me be the diversion for this". He nodded and I jumped down onto the ground.
I charged towards my mother. I attempted to attack her with the Multiple Striking Shadow Snakes, but she jumped out of the way just in time.
She turned to face me and her eyes widened. "(Y/N), my daughter. Your chakra has become more like your father's, but at the same time, consists of elements belonging to the Uchiha". My mother was always praised for her Medical Ninjutsu abilities and her kind heart, I had almost forgotten she was also a sensory.
I slowly walked towards her. "That's because I inherited my Jutsu from both of you, mom. I have dad's snake abilities and his summoning technique and I have your Medical Ninjutsu and sensory abilities. Of course, I'm not as gifted as ninja like Karin Uzumaki, but I am adept in detecting chakra".
She charged towards me, our weapons clashing against each other. She looked at me proudly. "You've grown up into a wonderful kunoichi, I can see that clearly".
I smiled softly. "I guess I have you to thank for that. My whole life, all I ever wanted was to be like you". My smile disappeared. "And yet, I can't help but feel disappointed in you". Before she could reply, I shot the Fireball Jutsu at her.
"Why?" she asked once the fire had died down.
She shot kunai at me, which I managed to deflect with my sword. "For helping Madara Uchiha, the very man responsible for this war. He told me you nursed him back to health. He's our enemy, a traitor to the Hidden Leaf Village! Why would you help him?"
3rd Person P.O.V
Chiharu recognised this as someone else completely. 'So, he's using Madara's name, is he?' she thought as she evaded her daughter's attacks.
(Y/N) P.O.V
Her eyes widened as she listened to what I had said. After that, she looked slightly disappointed. "Enemy or ally, that man was a human being. What kind of a medical ninja would I be if I turned away from him simply because of his crimes in the past?"
It was my turn to be surprised. I smiled softly. "People always tell me that I'm just like you. Times like this, I can't help but agree, because that is exactly what I would say". I thought of Sasuke. 'And it's not like I can talk either'. I looked straight at her. "But I have to ask, is that your reasoning for helping the clan with the coup?"
She looked genuinely surprised. "How do you know about that?"
"My late husband told me".
I could see the anger in her eyes. "You didn't see the way they treated us after the Nine-Tails attack. You were still so young, of course you don't know what it's like".
I raised an eyebrow at her as I countered her attacks. "Don't I? Because it's been ten years since the clan was massacred and I still get treated that way. Do you know how many times the elders have tried to kill me? I've lost count! Now Itachi is died and Sasuke is a rogue ninja, because of them! I hate them more than you can possibly imagine. Not only that, but my own brother wants me dead because of something I buried inside myself. So, of course I know what it's like". I activated my Mangekyō Sharingan as proof of all I've been through. "But I'm not going to use that as an excuse to destroy my home! I'm not going to take the easy way out, not this time".
She looked stunned, and I gave a nod to Gaara, who was standing by. Before she had time to react, he used his sand to start sealing her away, starting at her legs.
"I'm so proud of you," she said through tear-filled eyes. I clenched my fists to stop my own tears from falling. As the sand reached her chest, she suddenly remembered something. "One last thing, that's not Madara. His real name is-" Before she could finish what she was saying, the sand had wrapped itself around her entire body.
I slowly walked up to her. "I guess I'll never know what she was trying to tell me," I muttered as I took out a seal and placed it in the middle of her body.
Gaara floated down to me. "We can handle ourselves for now. You can go do what you need to now".
I nodded to him. "Thank you". Then I ran off towards the forest. It helped that everyone was a little too occupied to see me leave.
