"I'm jealous," Lizzie hums. "It must've been nice to have a girls night."
"Someone totally blew me off for dinner that night," Lily starts, "so it was pretty nice to have some company."
"I had prearrangements," Lizzie scoffs as she keeps her eyes on the road. "My schedule isn't free everyday for you."
"You're a highly desired woman, I get it," Lily jokes. "Though it would be nice to clear your schedule for the person you're dating. Even if I had a dinner with the president, I would cancel for you."
"Are you always this dramatic?" Lizzie asks.
"All the time," Lily replies. "It was all disclosed in the papers you signed to date me, you didn't read the fine print?"
Lizzie rolls her eyes and grabs hold of Lily's hand over the middle console. "Well I'll make it up to you today. How's that sound?"
"Technically you had this day scheduled for our date," Lily huffs. "It doesn't feel very special."
The past few days, they haven't been able to meet up due to Lizzie's schedule. They both thought production slowed down enough that it warranted a week break next week but it turns out a lot had to be tied up so that could happen.
When Lizzie stops at the red light, she turns to see Lily staring back at her with a teasing smile. "I could cancel this date." Lizzie says seriously.
"You wouldn't," Lily challenges.
Lizzie pulls her hand from Lily's and grabs a fist full of her shirt, pulling her towards the driver's side so that Lily is now hovering over the console.
"Try me," Lizzie challenges back and places a sweet and longing kiss against Lily's lips. Lizzie smirks when she feels Lily push herself toward her trying to deepen the kiss. But Lizzie pulls away, noting the cute pout that comes from the younger actress. "No more until we get to our destination. I'm driving and I can't have any distractions."
"What a tease," is all Lily says before sitting back in her seat. She stares out the window to hide the blush on her cheeks but she holds her hand out on the console.
Grinning, Lizzie places back into Lily's hand as they were before, feeling giddy at how right it felt to hold Lily's hand.
The car ride would take over an hour to get to their destination. Lizzie tried to keep her plans a secret but it was hard to do with the GPS blaring out the directions. Thankfully it didn't say their destination. She could only hope Lily has never been or couldn't guess it.
They spent their time chatting, mostly. But they also sang songs, which Lizzie learned that Lily has a pretty good singing voice. She isn't a professional singer in the slightest but she can hit some high notes and carry a tune. Much better than herself but they didn't sing to be heard. They sang to have fun.
Lily wasn't trying to figure out where they were going but the signs along the road gave it away.
"Fruit picking?" Lily asks as they pass another brightly color sign.
"Not just fruits but veggies too," Lizzie tells her. She's just glad the plan wasn't discovered earlier. "We could pick fresh fruits and vegetables and bring it back so that you have things to cook with."
"I think they will be better used for you," Lily says.
"We keep going back and forth on this," Lizzie sighs. "Trust me, I'll teach you how to cook and then you won't have anything else to say."
Lizzie pulls into the gravel parking lot and takes a free space.
"I won't complain if that's what you're offering," Lily says and immediately pulls her body over the console the second Lizzie puts the car in park, waiting with puckered lips.
