Lizzie isn't as good as Lily to keeping the her plans a surprise. Lily didn't even need the GPS to know they were going to a beach by the route they were going.
"You're so annoying," Lizzie says, rolling her eyes when Lily asked if that is where they were going. "Can't you act a little surprised?"
The loud exaggerated gasp that comes from Lily makes her jump in fright. "We're going to the beach?! I'm so excited!"
"Very cute," Lizzie sighs.
"It doesn't matter that I figured it out," Lily tells her. "I'm going to enjoy it regardless."
"Me too," Lizzie smiles.
They arrive at the beach and one thing that Lily didn't expect is the cooler in the back seat. How she didn't see it before is beyond her but when she pulls it from behind her seat, she finds it's pretty heavy. While she grabs that, Lizzie grabs a box from the trunk.
Being early June, there is a slight crowd at the beach but it's not peak season yet. The water is likely still a little too cold to swim in.
They are lucky to find a more secluded spot where they set down their stuff. The box that Lizzie brought is actually a complete set for the beach. It disassembles to that there is a beach umbrella, a small table, and and small box to hold valuables. The cooler included sandwiches, cold drinks, and various snacks. They laid out beach towels and they ended up with a cute picnic setup.
"Okay, this –" Lily gestures to everything, "I'm impressed with."
Lizzie grins. "Good. Come sit with me."
Lily looks around and when she's satisfied that they are far enough from everyone, she goes to sit next to her on the same towel despite having more than enough room to sit elsewhere. Their legs tangle between each other as they eat their sandwiches, feed each other grapes and other snacks, and enjoy a cool beverage.
It was definitely a needed late lunch as Lily's stomach growled at the very sight of food. Who knew food picking could make you so hungry?
"Another grape?" Lizzie offers. Lily gladly takes it as Lizzie feeds her. "You know what I'm feeling?"
Lily cocks her eye brow as Lizzie untangles herself from her and stands, offering her hand. Lily takes it as Lizzie pulls her up and leads her towards the water.
"I don't have extra clothes," Lily argues as she tries to resist.
"Where's your courage?" Lizzie taunts.
"I have courage," Lily huffs. "What I don't want is to go on an hour car ride soaking wet."
"No courage," Lizzie concludes.
"You asked for it!" Lily shouts. Instead of resisting, she sprints forward and pulls Lizzie straight into cold ocean waves.
Lizzie screams in delight as laughter fills the air. The moment their feet touch the cold water, immediate regret fills them as chills shoot up their body. But they don't stop. They continue running until they are waist deep into the ocean.
"No courage, my ass!" Lily shouts and sends a wave of salty water at Lizzie.
"You're going to get it!" Lizzie declares and splashes water at Lily. They fight back and forth for a while. Lily ends up picking Lizzie up by the waist and completely dunking her into the water. When Lizzie emerges, Lily is laughing so hard that she is hunched over, grabbing her stomach. She couldn't even be mad if this is the reaction the comes from it.
But she doesn't let it go; the desire for revenge fueled her. She tries to dunk Lily as she did to her but Lily is taller and more evasive than she is. Every attempt that she tried to grab her, Lily is able to back step or evade her rapacious hands.
