Lily returns to her apartment with Pickle in tow. They had gone for an hour walk and a half hour jog. It's only been two weeks since Lizzie broke up with her but Lily decided Hailee was right; she couldn't sulk and waste her days crying.
She took small steps like eating three meals a day like she should. She takes good care of Pickle and started to go back to her routine of working out and preparing for the sequel of Haven: The fight for survival. The premiere for the first movie would take place in February but they were so confident it would be a hot, they signed Lily on for a sequel. It worked out; Lily working out meant she would look good for the event and for the sequel.
Lily refills Pickle's water bowl and sets it down, patting his head. "Good boy, you did well keeping up with me."
Pickle yaps at her as of to say "Of course! Do you know who I am??" and then gulps the water hungrily.
Lily chuckles at her own silliness making up what Pickle is saying. She grabs a granola bar and rips it open.
The sharp edge rips open and a little edge knicks her finger, slicing a little cut.
"Ouch," Lily dead pans at the little stinging on her third finger. It didn't hurt but she felt compelled to say something. She stares at the little wound as blood starts to form a little circle. She stares at it, not quite sure why. It's not the blood that intrigues her but her finger. The third finger. Her ring finger...
Lily's eyes widen. The ring!
She drops the granola bar on the table and rushes around the kitchen island. Pickle perks his head up at her sudden urgency but decides it has nothing to do with him so he goes back to lapping at the water.
Lily rushes towards her bedroom, jumping over the couch like a track runner (because going around would have taken too long, apparently), and tumbles into her bedroom. She goes immediately to the jacket she wore that night and pulls at all the pockets. She looks at the left pocket but it's empty.
"I swear I put it in this pocket," Lily mutters. Her heart rate increases as panic starts to set in. "No, no...it's here. It's got to be here somewhere!"
She rummages through the entire jacket. She checks all the pockets and flips everything inside out but it's not where to be found.
"Fuck, this can't be happening," Lily mumbles. She immediately gets up and searches through her cabinet and the jewelry box that Lizzie left on top of it. She searches carefully and thoroughly, looking through every crack and corner.
When she comes up empty handed, she goes through her closet. She checks where she initially hid the ring under her panties and bras but no luck. She searches through every shirt, pants, jacket and all its pockets and every thread. She tosses each piece of clothing that she has already gone through out the closet. Soon enough, her closet is empty.
"No, no, no," Lily mutters and falls to her stomach searching underneath the shelves, under the bed, and under the bedside table. All she finds are dust bunnies.
She runs into the living room and searches the couch. She tosses the pillows aside and looks between the cushions. Lily frantically searches every space she could think of in the living room and the kitchen but comes up empty handed.
"What would drunk Lily do with it?" Lily asks herself. "Come on...think...think! Sober drunk Lily was sad and maybe mad. Frustrated and heartbroken...flush it down the toilet? No way. Throw it off a cliff...throw it out the window while driving? Ugh Lily what did you do??"
The only other place she could think of is her car. Pickle scratches at her leg but she ignores him. That's the only logical place where the ring could be!
