Lizzie bursts through the door of her trailer and finds Lily in the chair that is usually tucked away by the desk. She is spinning in circles while her head is laid back as she holds her phone above her head scrolling on Instagram.
"What is this?" Lizzie demands, tossing her phone into Lily's lap.
"I brought breakfast," Lily says in a monotone voice. "Yesterday you said you didn't want muffins so I brought breakfast tacos today."
"No, look at it," Lizzie seethes through her teeth, pointing at her phone.
With a sigh, Lily mutters a "Good morning to you too, sunshine," and picks up the phone. She reads the article titled 'Dvia Lily Rowan's Career on Thin Ice'. She shrugs and hands Lizzie's phone back to her. "What about it?"
"You were supposed to start filming for Haven: Fight for Survival 2 two weeks ago," Lizzie states. "Why aren't you in Texas doing that?"
"The first movie isn't even out yet," Lily says and spins the chair so her back is to Lizzie. "There's no point until we know the first movie is well received."
Lizzie grabs the back of the chair and spins her around so Lily faces her again. "The article says you're the reason why filming is delayed. People are calling you a diva now that you landed your first big hit movie, you're getting the fame into your head and you're pushing the entire production and your cast member's back."
"It's not the first article to write stupid things about me," Lily waves her away.
"No, it isn't. This is the fifth one I've seen this morning and it's only 9:00am," Lizzie states. "What's going on inside your head Lily? You can't throw away your career like this. And for what?"
Lily stands from the seat making Lizzie jump back in surprise, but Lily follows with her face right into Lizzie's so that their nose almost touches. "For you! Everything is for you, Lizzie!"
Lizzie gulps and finds her composure. She pushes back and points a finger into Lily's chest. "I'm not asking you to stay here. Actually, I'd rather you leave me alone. I don't want you here!"
"I don't give a shit about what you want," Lily snaps. "I want you and that's all I care about."
"You're not happy here," Lizzie fires back. "I'm not happy with you here. Why can't you see that? Neither of us want this so just go. I'm not going to be the one who ruins your career."
"It's my career. What makes you think you have a say in it?" Lily says.
"I'm your girlfriend," Lizzie exclaims and she realizes her slip up. She bites her tongue. Lily isn't referring to Joseph's ultimatum, but Lizzie is. She would have revealed everything had she let her anger take over.
"No, you were," Lily states. "You made that very clear. Maybe if we were married, then yes, I would ask you for advice and take your opinion into account but we're not so buzz off Liz. It's my choice."
In one sentence, Lizzie's heart shatters all over again.
Maybe if we were married.
They would have been. They would be right now.
Liz.
It's her name, but it's not what Lily calls her. It's what she called her before they were together. It's a dry, affectionless nickname.
"Go back to your life, Lily," Lizzie says sternly.
"You just don't understand," Lily says, stepping back and pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration. "You're my life, Lizzie. You're my future."
