A few days later, Lily was woken up startled with someone jumping onto her.

"Happy birthday!" Lizzie shouts at the top of her lungs.

"What – It's...6am," Lily groans as she glanced over to the clock on the bedside table.

"You were born at 6:02am so I couldn't wait," Lizzie grins. "Wake up because I have lots planned."

Lily groans again and lets her head fall back onto the pillow. But she relished at the sight in front of her. Lizzie is happy and smiling. She's straddling her and the sight alone made her grin.

The past few weeks of somber and being upset seemed to be over while Lizzie looks at her with adoration and love.

Lily didn't waste a second and sat up, pulling Lizzie in to meet her lips. Her lips are sweet and soft. She couldn't remember the last time they kissed properly.

Lizzie moans when Lily licks her bottom lip. She didn't give her entrance but when Lily squeezed her sides, she gasped and Lily took that opportunity to explore the inside of her mouth. Then their tongues met and they battled for dominance. They each put up a good fight, neither taking the lead before they pulled away for air.

Lizzie pushes her back, pinning Lily to the bed by her shoulders. Lizzie bit her lip, having forgotten how much she loved kissing Lily. She forgot how good Lily made her feel and how much ache she had been building up the last few weeks.

"We'll have time later," Lizzie tells her. Her eyes flicker to the clock to see 6:02am. "For now, happy birthday, baby."

"Birthday girls get birthday kisses," Lily states.

"You're so annoying," Lizzie mumbles but she doesn't fight it. She leans down and meets Lily's lips in a slow, long, languid kiss. 'Fuck, I missed this,' Lizzie thought, forcing herself to take her time instead of succumbing to her wildest desires.

Lily pulls away first. She stares lovingly into Lizzie's gleaming green eyes, just watching as the irises swim and glimmer from the sunlight.

"Don't look at me like that," Lizzie says, scrunching her nose at Lily and puts a hand up to block Lily's view. Lily isn't fazed and instead cranes her neck and looks to the side. To the right. To the left. Up. Down. Lizzie's hand follows Lily's eyes to block her gaze and she can't help but giggle at Lily's goofy actions.

In the end, Lily takes Lizzie's hand, kissing the palm of it, and then intertwines their fingers – something they haven't done in a while either.

"I'm not looking at you in any particular way," Lily denies.

"You are."

"Am not."

"You are," Lizzie says firmly. "As if I'm the most beautiful woman you've ever seen."

"Well, you are."

"I just woke up," Lizzie scowls.

"It's honestly when you're the most beautiful."

"That's an insult to when I actually try," Lizzie teases.

"I'll tell you exactly when I find you the most beautiful," Lily says and sits up fully, wrapping her free arm around Lizzie's waist as Lizzie still straddles her. "It's the moment when you first wake up when your eyes meet mine. It's like the world stops. The love and sincerity in the look you have tells me everything I need to know."

Lizzie can't help but smile. She opens her mouth to say that Lily is just being dramatic but Lily continues and it immediately makes her smile fade.

"And then your brain catches up and it's like you realize you're in reality and whatever it is that's been bothering you pulls you away from me," Lily whispers sadly. She tucks a strand of hair behind Lizzie's ear and offers a sad smile. "Something is pulling you under and no matter how hard I try to hold on, it's like you're slipping through my fingers."
