Chapter 53 - Hypocrite

The next few weeks were great. As promised, Lily and Lizzie tried to avoid googling themselves and generally stayed of social media as much as possible. There were times that Lily couldn't stay away but she let Lizzie know every time. They had an open communication where they told the other what they saw, voiced their frustrations, and then got over it. They found that letting the other know as much as possible helped to get into a healthy headspace and avoid spiraling.

If they could be with each other, they would be but production started for Lily and with her being the lead actress, she was getting busier than she already was. She had to work odd hours including early mornings and late nights. It was even crazier than being an executive producer that Lizzie had to take on.

It was a complete swap from before. Now Lizzie is the one who takes care of Lily while she's out being the breadwinner.

Lily never complained when she came home to a beautiful woman and a home cooked meal. Lizzie definitely took care of her better than when she took care of Lizzie. Lizzie would argue that but Lily kept her opinion to herself.

For a few weeks, everything was great. They tried their best to stay inside and avoid paparazzi so the news about their relationship died down with time and it wasn't as bad as Lily thought. Without any new photos or juicy gossip, they became old news. She felt a little foolish that she was so against it early on but it worked out. Lizzie made it easy and she was sure it wouldn't have been as seamless if it wasn't with Lizzie. Everything was better with Lizzie.

Tomorrow would be the day Lily traveled to Switzerland for filming. They've been in production but a good bulk of the movie would be filmed in the other country. Apparently they had the perfect location to film at so Lily would be gone for the next few months.

Lizzie would also be starting production for WandaVision so neither of them would be home. It was the last day they would be together before Thanksgiving break. Thankfully Lily was let off early after shooting one scene so that she could rest before the flight.

"Babe, I'm home!" Lily sings-songs as she enters the apartment. She spots Lizzie in the kitchen, her attention on her phone. "I was thinking we could get some lunch. You know that spot in Little Tokyo I was talking about? Let's go there."

Lizzie doesn't respond and sets her phone flat on the table.

"Babe? Is everything okay?" Lily asks, noticing Lizzie's tight lips and silence. "Were there articles about us again?"

Lizzie slides her phone across the counter and Lily catches it before it flies off the edge. Lizzie looks up at her with a glare, tears brimming her eyes. "You're cheating on me?!"

"What?" Lily asks, looking down at her phone. It's an article titled Lily Rowans Caught Kissing Unknown Woman. There's a picture of her and another woman liplocked. You could only see Lily and the back of another person's head but it's clear they are kissing. "Lizzie, this is –" tries to explain but is cut off.

"We've just got past the media and we were in a good place," Lizzie states, her voice rising with every word. "How could you?"

"Lizzie, calm down," Lily says calmly.

"Don't tell me to CALM DOWN," Lizzie shouts.

"Just give me a second to explain," Lily says, holding her hands up and palms out to show her that she didn't mean any harm.

"How do you explain that?" Lizzie scoffs. "You cheated."

"I didn't cheat."

"Kissing someone else while we're together is cheating," Lizzie snaps.
