Lily and Lizzie have been in production with their respective movies and TV show up until the week prior to Thanksgiving. Lily got lucky and was able to take the week prior to Thanksgiving off and go home early to surprise her girlfriend. Since Lizzie has been filming in the States, and partially in California, she has been home quite frequently.
Lily got back to her apartment around noon on a Tuesday. She already knew Lizzie is filming today so she got to work spicing up her apartment. She had left it clean and organized and she could tell Lizzie has been in and out keeping the apartment tidy as well.
Lily set the gifts she had bought for Lizzie on the island. She noticed Mr. Sloth on the couch and smiled to herself. Lizzie told her she doesn't sleep without him because she misses Lily so much so that is a clear indication Lizzie would be sleeping at Lily's apartment tonight. Or at least be stopping by to pick him up. Lily wouldn't need to make an excuse for Lizzie to come over.
She laid out blankets from the closet on the couch and threw some rose petals that she bought before she came home. The counter, tabletops, and floor was littered with pretty white and red rose petals.
Lily laid out the swiss chocolates and got the cheese fondue set ready on the table. She stuffed two white boxes in the box that held her games and controllers under the coffee table on the living room. She made a mental note that's where she put them and got to doing some chores.
She stuffed the clothes she traveled with in the washer, took out the trash, and changed the sheets in the bedroom. They didn't look dirty but she liked knowing everything is clean and fresh after coming home.
She took a long, relaxing shower to wash off the grime from the plane and put on a nice blouse and pants. She lounged around for a while until her phone buzzed with a text from Lizzie
I'm home, baby. You're probably asleep. Call me when you wake up.
Reading the text from Lizzie, Lily smiles and starts a video all. Lizzie answers immediately.
"Hey baby," Lizzie greets, the camera wobbling back and forth as Lizzie walks. Her voice echos and Lily can make out that she is in a car garage. "What are you doing up? You should be sleeping." She looks down at her screen and notices Lily is wearing a nice blouse. "And what are you wearing?"
"Are you just getting off work?" Lily asks, ignoring her questions.
"Yep, just getting to the apartment now," Lizzie answers. Thankfully she isn't suspicious and she gets distracted easily as she pushes the button for the elevator. "Did you have a good day?"
"Tiring," Lily answers. It's not a complete lie since she hated flying and turbulence was horrible, but it's also the safest answer that Lizzie would believe that she is still in Switzerland and not in the U.S. to surprise her.
"Aw baby," Lizzie pouts. "When you come home, I'll give you a massage."
"Promise?" Lily asks, her eyes lighting up with delight at the suggestion.
"I promise," Lizzie giggles, unable to hide her joy by being able to see and speak to her girlfriend. She was sure Lily would be asleep since she didn't mention anything about a late night.
Seeing Lizzie smile makes Lily smile. They grin into the camera, just watching the other without speaking.
"Stop looking at me like that," Lizzie says, unable to wipe away her smile as she scrunches her nose at the phone.
"What – Looking at you with love and adoration?" Lily asks, feeling those emotions looking at her beautiful girlfriend.
"Just stop looking at me in general. Your big brown eyes make me miss you more," Lizzie says. The elevator makes a ding sound and Lizzie gets off at the 11th floor. She walks the long stretch of hallway to Lily's apartment and jiggles her keys to find the right one. She sticks the right one in the door and remembers her initial questions "You didn't answer my question about your shirt."
