"How does this white turtleneck look?" Lizzie asks, spinning around in the walk in closet to face Lily who is sitting at the foot of the bed while looking down at her phone. She has a finger between her teeth gnawing at it while her eyebrows scrunch together.
Seeing that she didn't hear her, Lizzie walks over and gently takes Lily's finger from her mouth. She pulls her hands to her waist as she takes a seat in Lily's lap. Lizzie wraps her arms over Lily's neck, playing with the baby hairs on the back of her neck.
"Sorry, did you say something?" Lily asks. She focuses her attention on Lizzie as she moves the phone from her view.
"What's got your attention than watching your girlfriend change?" Lizzie asks with a hint of humor. She leans in and kisses the middle of her eyebrows, smiling when they part.
"My sister," Lily answers. "She was supposed to arrive this morning and head to my parent's place, but their plane is delayed so they'll be coming later. She says she'll make it in time for dinner but it's going to be a stretch."
"Oh, I thought she was still considering whether she could make it due to her fiance's schedule?" Lizzie says.
"Yeah, it was really last second but she said she could make it for me," Lily says, pouting.
"It's okay. We were going to go to dinner even if she couldn't make it," Lizzie says, trying to make her feel better.
"Callie always makes it better," Lily grumbles. "She always has my back and is like the mitigator between my parents and I. She'll make my parents hehave. With her, they always smile because she's the poster child of perfection."
"That's not true."
"You haven't met her," Lily states. "You'll fall in love with her."
"I won't love her more than you."
"Callie's been my role model forever," Lily says. "She's my best friend. I tell her everything."
"Then I'm excited that I get to meet her," Lizzie says. She caresses Lily's cheek. "Do you want to wait and get to your parent's place later?"
Lily sighs and rests her head into Lizzie's chest. "Yes and no."
"We can if you want to," Lizzie says soothingly. She runs her hands along Lily's hair and down her back. "It gives me a bad impression but who needs your parent's approval? Not me."
Her comment earns a little giggle. She picks up her head and kisses Lizzie's lips. "For you, we'll go on time."
"Great. Now," Lizzie says and gets off her lap, "what do you think about this turtleneck?"
"You look wonderful in everything, babe," Lily compliments.
"Well it's either white or black. I didn't bring any others from my house," Lizzie says. "Someone left marks on me last week and they haven't faded yet."
"Someone got their revenge on me on lover's-giving," Lily jokes back. "You wear white. I have a tan one I'm planning to wear."
"Oh, I saw that one. It looks nice," Lizzie claps her hands. "Get dressed and we can head out soon. I want to buy flowers for your mom."
"You're meeting my mom as my girlfriend, not their daughter-in-law," Lily says. "You don't need to get her flowers."
"I need to make a good impression if I have a chance of getting the daughter-in-law status," Lizzie says back, skipping into the walk-in closet.
"Are you being serious because if so, I'll go buy a ring-pop and propose right now," Lily calls to her.
"You better not have just said you're going to propose with a ring pop," Lizzie says in a warning tone as she comes out of the closet fully dressed up and ready to go.
