Lily pressed the palms of her hands to her eyes, groaning at sun rays that seemed to have it out for her that morning. The bright light made the splitting headache worse and reminded her why she rarely got drunk.
"I hate you, I hate you, I hate you," Lily groans. She pulls the pillow from under her head and pulls it over her eyes and flips her middle finger into the general direction of the windows.
"I hope that wasn't towards me," a voice giggles from the doorway.
A heavenly, angelic voice that could cure any illness.
"No, definitely not you," Lily says, pulling the pillow off her face and turning to look at Lizzie. But the light floods her eyes and the sudden turn sends a shock to her brain and she groans in pain again.
A heavenly, angelic voice that could cure any illness. Except hangovers, apparently.
"Here, baby," Lizzie says gently. She kneels on the side of the bed and holds out a glass of water and some pills. "Take this and you'll feel better."
Despite the headache, Lily sits up and takes the two from Lizzie and downs it gratefully. She hadn't realized but her mouth was as dry as a desert and she was so parched.
"I have breakfast waiting," Lizzie says. "Hangover soup. Hailee made it a point to have it ready when you woke up."
"Oh, that's nice of her." Lily says as Lizzie replaces the glass cup with a bottle of water from the bedside, seeing as Lily gulped every last drop from the cup. "Oh, you're nicer. You're an angel, you know that?"
Lizzie smiles at the compliment. "Callie and Gabriel are at the airport. Callie said she would call before she took off in case you woke up before their flight."
"Already?!" Lily exclaims and reaches for her phone, obviously a mistake as the action sends another shock and she hunches over in pain, groaning and holding her head.
"Take it easy," Lizzie warns and hands Lily her phone.
"Thank you," Lily sighs and scrolls through her phone. Her friends had texted her that they had gotten home and some late birthday messages. Those that were actually able to wake up at a reasonable time, because it was already past noon, sent her thankful messages and that they had fun.
Callie did text her. Telling her that the two of them were at the airport and that she would call before they boarded. She added to make sure to hydrate and scolded her for drinking too much, but being really serious because it was her birthday, after all.
Lizzie sat on the edge of the bed beside Lily and kissed her temple hoping to kiss the pain away. "Do you want to do something today?"
"Maybe not," Lily says with a slight shrug, hoping that her answer didn't disappoint Lizzie. It was her last day in California before she had to fly back and start up production again. She would have a short break for Christmas and New Years but not long enough to really be able to go back and forth. "Is it okay if we stayed in?"
"Anything, baby," Lizzie tells her, kissing her gently on the lips.
"Did you have fun last night?" Lily asks.
"You don't remember much, do you?" Lizzie teases.
"I remember bits and pieces," Lily admits. "In my defense, I didn't know we were going clubbing so I went pretty hard at dinner already."
"When did you get pushed over the line?" Lizzie asks.
"I remember getting to the club and...not much else," Lily admits bashfully. "Why? Is there something I should remember?" Asking the question made her think and thinking was not easy with a hangover. Little jolts ping her temporal lobe and she had an inkling that she should remember something, or maybe something she wanted to remember. Something her sober drunk self wanted sober self to remember. She frowns when she is unable to remember.
