13. Task

[Hunters POV]

Some days have passed since the incident. Since then, I've been in my room. I didn't leave it a single time. I haven't talked to Uncle neither, I couldn't risk him seeing my injuries. They are still not completely healed, but they are almost.

I only continued to study wild magic and also wrote letters back and forth with Edric. I haven't gotten to met him again, I couldn't. For various reasons.

I still remember that rage and pain in his eyes when he looked at me as the Golden Guard.

I blamed my uncle for lying to me, but I'm not better. I've been lying the whole time to Edric about me. I can't just go and see him, act as if nothing happened.

Right now I am writing a letter for Edric when I hear a knock at the door.

"Who's there?" I say, without looking up.

"Hunter? It's me, Darius." I look up surprised and to the door. Why is Darius here?

"What do you want?" I ask through the door.

"Belos has a task for you. He sent me to tell you, since he is busy with the Day of Unity."
After a while I open the door and I look out to Darius.

"What kind of task?" I ask him, kind of exicted. The last days were extremly boring.

"Go to Hexside and try to recruit some students for the covens, especially for the Emperor's Coven." Says Darius while looking at me with a...sad/worried glare?

"And Uncle said that's my mission...?" I ask, finally being of use again.

"Yes. Think you're up for it, little Prince?" Says Darius, giving me a little smile. After I nod he gives me a Hexside Uniform. "Good Luck, little Prince." Says Darius before walking away.

I take a short look at the uniform. I close the door again and put it on. I make sure that my clothes cover the bandages on my back. I take a short look at my artifical magic staff but decide to let it here.

"Flapjack." He transforms into a staff and I grab him. "This is my chance to help uncle again! And to prove my loyalty to him! I can't mess this up." I say before flying out of the window, leaving to make my way to Hexside.

[Later]
I'm walking over some kind of Club fair where people can join all kind of clubs. I'm walking over the fair, looking for potential students when I suddenly hear something explode. I immediately turn around only to see a firework some couple of meters behind me.

"BLIGHTTTT!!!" I hear someone yell and my eyes wide. No, I can't see him!! I try to hide, but it's too late. A specific green haired boy already ran into me, bringing us both to fall. I wince quietly when I hit the ground, my injuries aren't completely healed yet soo...yeah that was painful.

"Woah, sorry du-" he stops once he seems to recognize me, laying under him, with him supporting himself on his arms, hovering over me. "Hunter??" He says suprised and with sparkling eyes while I just stare up to him.

Those sparkling eyes, that happy and loveable look on his face. I'll never see this again once he knows who I am.

"H-Hey, Edric..." I say quietly. He stands up himself and then helps me to stand up, even though he keeps on holding my hand and then pulls me into a hug. Causing me to wince again.

"I missed you!!! It's so good to see you again, Hunty!!!" He says with that careless smile of his.

Hunty? I feel my cheeks heating up and I chuckle embarrassed. "It's g-good to see you too, Edric..."

He gasps loudly and then points down on me. "No way, that's a Hexside uniform!! Did you enroll in Hexside, did your uncle finally come to his senses??" He asks pretty happy when he seems to notice another thing. "Wait- is that a new scar on your chi-"

"H-Hey, Edric!! Why won't your show me around a little, all those clubs are sooo interesting!!" I grab his arm and rank mine into it, just looking at him smiling nervously.

I notice how he looks at our arms for a moment before turning red and nodding. "Y-Yes, of course!! Follow me!" He smiles kinda shyly before starting to walk. I'm still ranked into his arm and I just follow him through the fair. Luckily, he didn't ask any further questions, but walking like this with him over the fair is kinda...

Now, adding to Edrics red face, I start to blush too.

I can't believe all of this is happening after those last days.

And still, I feel...

Happy.

And a little smile appears on my face as I listen to Edric explain for some of the clubs we pass.

[Some time passes...]

We are walking over the fair, still with our arms ranked together and we're laughing loudly while eating some pasteries the baking club gave us. Or rather we took.

"You should have seem that guys face when the pasteries suddenly started to fly away. It was hilariously." I laugh. "Your illusion magic is fantastic!!" I say and smile at him. He chuckles quietly and smiles at me too.

"Well, thank you. But I'm sure you're great at making potions too." He says, refering to the color of my hexside uniform. "It fits you, it compliments your hair..." he says while smiling at me softly. I look at him surprised, not believing what he just said. Just when I want to say something back, I accidentally step onto something and we're disturbed by a giant griffin.

"What the-" I say shocked, I look down to my foot to see that I accidentally stepped on his tail. That thing suddenly starts to jump us. We let go of each other and part ways, but that thing starts to follow me.

"Nonono, I'm sorry I didn't mean to!!!" I yell shocked and I grab Flapjack, he transforms into a staff and I jump onto him, flying away. Thinking I got rid of this thing I sigh quietly, only to see that thing fly up and follow me. "KEEP THIS THING AWAY FROM ME!!!" I yell, trying to get away from it by flying, but it still follows me. I hear Edric yell something up to me, but I'm too busy to get away from that thing. At some point I am able to trick out and I land back on the ground, sighing quietly.

"Woah, Hunter that was amazing!!" Says Edric as he runs up to me. I look at him confused and then I see another green haired girl and a boy run up to me.

"Is Hunter your name?? Your flying skills are amazing!!" Says the girl and the boy nods agreeing. "Would you be interested in joining our Flyer Derby Team??" Asks the girl again and I look at her sceptically.

"No, thank you." Both the girl and the boy, along with Edric look at me shocked.

"Why not?? You would be great!! Come on, join it! It will be fun!" Says Edric, once again smiling at me with that irresistible smile of his.

After looking at him for a while I sigh quietly.
