2.7 Betrayal

Some more hours have passed, nothing worked. NOTHING.

I can't even get past the entrace and there's no other way into the Owl House, all the other entrances are even worse. I can't even try to find the flags, if I'm not even able to enter the Owl House.

And now, even some Covens who turned to Owl witches are making problems. This is a lot harder then I thought it would.

"Ed, look out!!!" I hear a voice yell, I turn around and I see Em kicking away someone behind me.

"This is insane!! How are we supposed to win this!!" Says Em and I look at her a little nervous.

"We have to team up with all the other Covens. As a big team, we can stand a chance. Let's spread the message!" Em nods and we both split up to inform other coven members. It goes smoothly, all of them spread out the info and soon enough, most of the covens witches who are still active and were sent out to gather the flags arrive in front of the giant Owl House.

Once all of us gathered, I take a look around to see Darius, Eber, Eda and Em. I give them a nod and Eda turns around to face all the others, there are even some coven heads like Terra Snapdragon and Osran, Oracle Coven head.

"Alright, if we wanna do this, we gotta work together, combine our magic. Only one Coven has to get their two flags, return them to their base and then take down the Owl Flag. If we manage to pull this off, all of this is over." All the other witches look at her and they nod.

Just when our hope returned, he had to shatter it.

"Working together? I see, well do want you want." The Collector's hologram appears above the Owl House again and he looks at all of us, chuckling. "Buuut, I'm sure all of you would want to be the next Emperor and have immense power. I am able to grant you that. But, only to one Coven. If you all start to work together, I'm not able to give the winning price to only one Coven, that'd be unfair. Oh well, you can decide yourself if ya wanna play friends or if ya wanna win this!! Have fun!!!"

The hologram disappears and my eyes wide in shock. This can't be.

"He...tries to play us out against each other..." Mumble Darius and I look over to the others, that's when I suddenly feel the ground shake, a couple of plants start to grow under our feet and they levitate all of us into the air.

"Ha, get away!!! The price is mine!!!" Yells Terra Snapdragon before throwing all of us away with her plants. Yelling loudly, I turn in the air and shortly afterwards I land on top of a tree, once again.

"Argh..." I groan quietly while holding my head. "Not good...we gotta stick together..." I mumble and I fall through the leafs to the ground. I land with a loud thud, hitting my head.

"Argh, I have enough of these trees..." I lift my head a little and what I see shocks me completely. I see all kind of witches, fighting each other.

"Ohhh, Nonono, what are you doing??? The Owl Witches are the enemy, the Collector is!!! We're not enemies!!!" I yell, but nobody seems to listen. Some of them even redirect their attacks to me. My eyes wide in shock when I see a ghost flying towards me and I lift my hands, trying to protect myself.

I'm waiting for a moment, but nothing happens. I look up and I see an Abomination wall in front of me. I look around confused and I see Darius walk up to me.

"You alright?" I give him a nod as an answer and he sighs quietly. "This got even worse. The Owl Witches and the Collector aren't our only enemy anymore." He looks at me. "We thought we had this figured out, but he turned the game against us. What was a strong community before, is now a power hungry full out war."

I look at him with big eyes and I gulp a little. And before we knew, we hear a loud buzzer.

"7 hours are over, the first game is officially over!!! The score is 1 to 0 to the Owl!! Thank you and we'll see each other for round two tomorrow!!! May everybody please return to their own bases, and please, save your fighting for tomorrow!!!"

The announcement ends and we watch as all the other witches stop fighting and leave the field. Darius looks at me.

"We will met at the actual Owl House, midnight." I give him a short nod and he walks off. I also start to make my towards the beast keeping base.

I still can't believe what just happened. This was supposed to be an easy game, just go in, grab the flags and that's it. How could we fail so miserably. And now, he even incited all the covens against each other.

I returned to the Beastkeeping Coven to witness a heated argument between some witches. A few are standing beside Eber and the majority is standing on the other side, all are yelling at each other. I walk over to Eber and I kneel down beside him.

"I'm sure you told them that we wouldn't fight against the other covens and they are against it." He gives me a short nod and I take a deep breath. "Meeting at the actual Owl House with Darius and the others. Midnight." Eber gives me another nod and we watch as the witches keep on arguing with each other.

I'm laying in my bed, not able to sleep even for a minute. I'm just waiting for it to finally turn midnight.

As soon as it's time, I slowly walk out of the base and I meet Eber outside. Together we make our way towards the Owl House, and once we arrive there we already see all the others.

"There you are..." says Darius and Eber immediately climps up on him to sit on his shoulder. Looks like Darius doesn't even mind since he's letting him do without another command.

"Well, today was a catastrophe." Says Eda as she leans back and simply holds King on her lap.

"It could've been worse." Says Em and Lilith nods.

"Yes. Nobody has died. The injuries are small ones. With such an insane thing like the Collector, we had immense luck to still be alive."

"Yes, but for how long?" Says Raine, sighing quietly. "He won't hesitate to manipulate us. Who knows when all of this will turn bloody."

"Well...in the best case, we're able to win this game before anything happens." Says Darius and Dad looks at him.

"How are we supposed to win? No Coven was even able to enter that Owl House he controls." Says Dad and I sigh quietly.

"We just gotta stick together. Even if most are blended by the price, we are not. All of this will be over sooner then you think."
