As soon as Lan Wangji saw where Wei Wuxian was heading towards, he grabbed Wei Wuxian and practically dragged him to safety. Everything shook as the beast rammed against the entrance to the smaller tunnel. Each impact sent dust and raining from the ceiling and small stones. Lan Wangji swiftly pulled Wei Wuxian into his arms. Lan Wangji pressed the younger cultivator against the wall, covering Wei Wuxian with his body.

'I can't let anything happen to Wei Ying.' Lan Wangji didn't care about the loose stones pelting his back like hail. He just needed Wei Wuxian to be safe.

"Lan Zhan." Wei Wuxian spoke softly. Wei Wuxian's hands came up to cup Lan Wangji's cheeks. Lan Wangji, almost jumped, the touch startling him.

"Lan Zhan. It stopped. It isn't attacking the tunnel anymore." Wei Wuxian said softly. Lan Wangji's golden eyes seemed unfocused. Wei Wuxian gently stroked Lan Wangji's cheeks with his thumbs.

"We can sit down. You don't have to keep shielding me. We're not under attack." Wei Wuxian kept his voice soft and soothing. Slowly the words began to sink in. Lan Wangji pulled Wei Wuxian into a proper embrace. It was gentle, like Lan Wangji was afraid of hurting Wei Wuxian if he held him too tightly. Wei Wuxian could feel the tension vibrating through Lan Wangji's body. Lan Wangji buried his nose in Wei Wuxian's hair, subsequently hiding his face from Wei Wuxian.

"Lan Zhan?" 'He wasn't this distressed last time. My injuries aren't even as bad as last time.' Wei Wuxian wasn't certain what was wrong. He held Lan Wangji, hoping that eventually Lan Wangji would calm down enough to explain what had upset him so much.

"Why didn't you tell me you were injured during this fight before?" Lan Wangji asked in a hushed voice. Wei Wuxian blinked in confusion. "The burn, the arrow, they are not new to this timeline are they." The words were a question, but Lan Wangji's tone made it sound more like an accusation. Wei Wuxian's eyes widen slightly.

"Oh... No, they happened before. The burn is in a different spot though." Wei Wuxian noted absently. Lan Wangji's expression darkens. Wei Wuxian yelps as without warning Lan Wangji scoops him up and carries him further into their new hiding place. Lan Wangji sets Wei Wuxian down before he begins to remove items from his Qiankun pouch, laying them out on a clean cloth.

"Lan Zhan?" Wei Wuxian questions. He looked at what Lan Wangji was setting out. A frown formed on Wei Wuxian's face.

"Lan Zhan, these aren't that serious. It isn't like I've broken a leg." Wei Wuxian protests once he realizes Lan Wangji intends to treat his wounds. Wei Wuxian moves as though to get up. A hand on his chest forcefully pins him in place. "Lan Zhan~." Wei Wuxian whined in protest.

"Wei Ying." Lan Wangji's voice came out sharp enough to startle Wei Wuxian. Lan Wangji immediately drew his hand back with a pained expression. "Let me do this. Please." Lan Wangji whispered quietly, staring down at his lap. Wei Wuxian's expression softened. He covered one of Lan Wangji's hands with his own.

"I'll stop fussing, go ahead." Wei Wuxian said gently. Lan Wangji peered at Wei Wuxian without lifting his head and Wei Wuxian felt his heart beat faster. Wei Wuxian wanted to pin Lan Wangji to the ground and kiss him senseless, but the hurt look in Lan Wangji's eyes held Wei Wuxian back.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about the arrow, or the burn. I honestly completely forgot about them. I just remember how badly your leg was hurt last time. How we killed the Xuanwu of Slaughter. That... and the sword." Wei Wuxian's voice became quiet towards the end.

"Anaesthetic," Lan Wangji stated as he held a bottle towards Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian pouted.

"It'll make me drowsy. I'm not so fragile, just treat me without it." Wei Wuxian whined.
