Morning sickness was the pits. One of the most annoying aspects about it was that it could occur at any time of the day. This is why you found yourself barfing your breakfast yet again. You were eight weeks into your pregnancy, and it just felt like the symptoms only intensified.

As Mother Miranda had told you, who served like a doctor to you, it would soon pass. Then you'd deal with a bout of new, unpleasant symptoms. You would not lie; it was very difficult on your body, and occasionally you wished you could just fall into a long-lasting slumber and not wake until the baby was due. Yet, this little life that you were carrying inside of you made this arduous experience completely worth it. Hunched over and still vomiting into the toilet, you smiled to yourself when you recalled the time you broke the news to your wife and daughters.

Early one morning, you were incredibly nauseous and couldn't keep anything in your stomach. Immediately, you had thought it was just a flu bug that you had contacted from one of the staff members, likely Janelle since she had no concept of personal space. That was until you had remembered that you had missed your menstrual cycle. You realized it wasn't uncommon for your cycle to be late. However, once you placed your hand over your abdomen, something clicked in your mind and you just somehow knew that this was different. You wanted to avoid mentioning anything to Alcina because you would rather not give up her hopes.

You had visited with the Duke and asked him if he had any pregnancy tests in his inventory. Much to your surprise, he actually did. He had released a hearty chuckle and was already congratulating you as you tucked and concealed two of them in your cloak. You had mentioned to him that he could not yet celebrate until it was official, and you made him promise he wouldn't tell a soul.

When both tests had turned out positive, you had spent a good portion of that morning just crying quietly to yourself while sitting on the toilet lid. There would indeed be another member joining the Dimitrescu family. You nearly felt dizzy with happiness as you began planning on how you'd break the news to Alcina first.

You had purchased a specific item from the village and decided to place it inside a tiny box and then wrap a bow around it. Later that evening, you'd place it on a platter beside her favorite bottle of wine and wait for her to notice it. Surely it'd have to be the surprise of a lifetime for her. At least that was what you had hoped.

During that evening, you had let her brush your hair. A favorite bedtime ritual you two had established a few months prior. Glancing at your reflection in the vanity, you noted how peaceful she seemed before you spoke up, "I have an idea that I wanted to pass by you."

She paused from her brushing and looked down at you out of curiosity. "Of course. Go ahead."

"I was thinking we could customize one of the bedrooms from upstairs? Well, more specifically, my former room. What do you think?"

She finished untangling a knot and then set down the hair brush to give you her full attention. "You wish to redesign your old room? How come?"

"Because I had a dream last night that we decorated a room together. We painted the walls and made the entire room look more a lot more cheerful and brighter. I thought it'd be a nice project for us to work on? Even the girls can help us and throw in their ideas, too." It tickled you inside imagining your old bed being replaced by a child's bed, and not to mention decorating the room with toys and painting flowers along the walls.

"Why would you choose that room? You don't use it."

"But I still love it a lot. It's one of the finest in the castle, and you gave it to me." You then lifted her palm and planted a graceful, chaste kiss on it. "Besides, I have some wonderful memories associated with it."
