Alcina was the easiest person to spot among the crowd. The tallest woman at the airport terminal. You rolled your travel luggage in her direction. Waving your hand in the air, you made yourself known to her.

The thick black wealth of her hair glistened as she strolled over to you. Seeing her face was like being greeted by the sun each day. Cheery. "You made it."

"Yep! Got my bag right here."

"Ah, you're a light packer." She lifted her larger black bag. "Almost similar to mine. Well, we better check-in for our flight. Are you fond of sitting next to the window?"

You smirked up at her. "How did you know?"

Together, you went through the process of handing over your luggage, passing through the security gates to the departure halls, and then boarding the plane itself. Once you were aboard, Alcina kindly took your bag and placed it in the cargo hold. You took your seat by the window.

When she sat down, she checked her schedule on her phone, confirming the times in her head. "All comfortable?"

"I am. Are you?" You noticed how she tensed up slightly when the plane began to move. Her hands gripped the armrests as she glanced away from you, shutting her eyes for a brief moment. Never would you have guessed this businesswoman to have flight anxiety. "Ms. Dimitrescu? Are you good?"

"Of course. I'm fine." Although her tone was confident, her body language wasn't reflecting it.

You slid your hand onto her armrest, offering it to her. "You can hold my hand during takeoff if you want? If you don't want to do that, you can hold one end of my pen, and I'll hold the other." Swiftly, you pulled out your pen from your pocket.

She appeared unsure until all of you felt the plane jerk. "I think I'd prefer you over the pen." Alcina grasped your hand, squeezing it while taking a deep breath. She had never cared too much for flying. However, having you on this flight with her made it considerably better.

The airplane then lifted off the runway, ascending into the blue petal sky of clouds. Her grip tightened before she let go of you. "Thank you."

You could have held her hand the entire way there. "My pleasure, Ms. Dimitrescu. So, once we land, where are we staying?"

"At the Epoque Hotel. It has high ratings. Now that you mention it, I forgot to tell you we will be sharing a room together. There's a pharmaceutical convention going on. They only had one 2-bedroom suite available, so I booked it. I hope you don't mind?"

Sharing a room with her? She wouldn't hear a single complaint from you about that. "Not at all. I'm glad they had one available. It'll be great. You know, when I was a little girl, I used to dream of spending a night in a suite."

She laughed. "How come?"

"Well, we didn't always have a lot of money when I was growing up. But we had tons of family members to visit, like my aunts and uncles. We'd either stay with friends or at cheaper inns. But I loved being in those rooms. I'd hog all the pillows and create a little fort around myself. Did you do anything like that as a child?"

"No. My mother was a tidy woman. She wanted me in bed by 9 a.m. and then she wanted my bed all made as soon as I woke up. My mother was a good woman, but not exactly playful. My father was always on business trips, so I didn't see him very often."

"No pillow forts?" You bumped her elbow playfully. "Someone's gotta show you how to build a proper fort someday. I bet your parents are proud of you, being a CEO?"

"I'm certain they would be," Alcina said. "They died in a car accident while I was in college."

"Oh, I'm so sorry."
