Sticking her head out the car window, Daniela's flaming hair caught in the wind as she began singing from the top of her lungs: "Morning, world! Lalee-loo! Wake up, critters, great and small!" She then rolled up her window and shook her hair from side to side. "It's been so long since we've gone anywhere. Road trips are the best!"

"Tell me about it." Bela listened to her music from her earbuds while enjoying the scenery of the forest. For her, cupping her chin in her hand near the pane glass and having nothing to do apart from looking around aimlessly was one of the most relaxing activities.

"Mother?" Alcina felt Cassandra's feet kick the back of her driver's seat for the third time. "Can you move your seat forward a teeny-bit more? My legs are cramping big time. I can literally hear my muscles screaming at me to give them more room."

"Your legs?" She held back her scoff and peered at her daughter in the rearview mirror, peeved. Being shy of six-feet-three-inches and having the legs she did in this vehicle didn't make it easier for her, either. She adjusted and slid her seat forward for the last time. The sacrifices one makes for their children. "There. That's the final time my seat is moving."

"Thanks!" Cassandra crossed her legs and proceeded to wipe her greasy fingers on the vinyl surface of the car, forgetting she had a napkin on right on her lap. "You know, I know our car is kind of smallish, but I bet Y/N would fit. We'll squeeze her in and make her fit. She could sit in between me and Bel back here. How's that sound?"

Bela plucked an earbud out of one ear to turn toward her sister. "Why would she be in our car? She's got her own. Unless you're planning to kidnap her?"

"But if we like her a lot, then we'll have to bring her home with us!"

"And make her leave her car at the park? That makes no sense." Bela shoved her bud back inside her ear and slouched in her seat, allowing her gaze to wander back to the window.

"I have more questions I'd like to ask her!"

"I just hope she's real," Daniela spoke in a low and uncertain tone. "I want her to be the woman I saw in her pictures. Not some perverted creeper who's in their 60s or some dude with a machete. What if it's a lady dragging us all the way out there just so she can sell us bread? That would be so lame! You never know what kind of people you'll run into, and that's a scary thought."

"It's true. It is a scary thought," Bela said from behind her seat. 'That's why all four of us are meeting her."

"Mhm!" Cassandra bent over to grab something from off the floorboard. Her recurve bow. "If anyone tries to play any games with us, they're taking an arrow in the knee." The goofiest smile broke across her face. "Get it?"

Alcina kept her eyes trained on the road. "You are not bringing that to the park, young lady. That stays here."

"I'm totally kidding." Cassandra laughed off her mother's reproach. "I actually brought a hammer and screwdriver with me. They're more practical. Dani, you can have the baby hammer, okay?"

Alcina let one hand off the wheel to grab her water out of the cupholder. "There shall be no
weapons or tools. As we've previously discussed, my dear children, you are staying inside the car until I meet her myself."

"What?" Bela leaned forward and paused her music. "But that's not how I remember our conversation? I thought we were all getting out of the car to meet Y/N together?"

Daniela held up her finger, giving her mother a gleaming smile. "Extra emphasis on the together part!"

"Yeah, I don't recall anything about us staying inside the car," Cassandra added. "We're coming with you!"
