Leaning against the brick fence, you snuck a peek at the front windows of her house, seeing the lights go out. You dug your cane harder into the ground, waiting for her impending arrival. This never got any easier for you, for time doesn't always heal all wounds.
When Alcina Dimitrescu stepped outside into the fog, she pulled out her car keys from her long coat pocket. The keys jangled slightly as she went down each step. That was when you timed your fall perfectly.
You came from around the brick post, walking in her direction. Right as she passed by the front of her vehicle, you pretended to trip. You flung yourself onto the sidewalk, throwing your cane ahead of you as you feigned a cry of pain.
Because of her tallness, Alcina saw you tumble onto the pavement. Thus, she reacted with haste to come to your side. "Are you all right? Let me help you." Reaching down to grab your arm, she pulled you up, taking notice of your haggard appearance. You looked as if you hadn't slept in days or eaten anything in some time. After she had you standing on your feet, she went over to fetch your cane. "Here."
You took it from her, offering her a grateful smile. "Thank you. My bad leg gives me a lot of trouble." Faking your injury, you hobbled on it. "Thanks for the assist. It's refreshing to know there's still good people around."
"Plenty," Alcina remarked, returning your smile. "And of course, I hope you won't fall again. Where are you headed?"
You shrugged, taking in the view of the quieter neighborhood with tree-lined streets. "I'm just walking around the block. I need to exercise. You know, minus the tripping and falling part."
"Well, I hope you enjoy the rest of your walk, then. Have a good evening."
Your eyes widened upon seeing her leave. It was too soon for her to drive off. You needed to delay her for one more minute and fourteen seconds. "Hey, wait! Actually, I need your help with something. I'm new to the neighborhood. Do you have any parks around this area?"
Alcina released her car handle. "Well, we have three parks. But the closest one is about five blocks down from Parker Street. Do you know where that is?"
"Parker Street? Not familiar with that. Could you show it to me?"
You sketched her out. Her gut feeling told her there was something amiss about you. "It's behind you. If you turn around and head down 3rd Street, you'll see it. Have a good evening."
She got inside and started her new, silver BMW. As soon as you heard the engines roar to life, you were left with no choice but to take action. Boldly, you raised your cane high into the air, bringing it down onto her car hood as if you were breaking up concrete.
You left a fairly decent-sized dent, which pissed her off. She threw her door open, stepping out onto the street and ready to break your legs. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
"Hang on! Wait!" You backed away from her vehicle, clutching your cane for protection. "I can explain!"
She stormed over to you much faster than you expected. It never failed to scare the shit out of you. "You better start explaining before I beat you with that cane!"
You dropped it, lifting your hands at her. "I'm sorry about what I did to your car, but I need you to listen to me. There's going to be a traffic accident, which will result in several injured drivers and two deaths."
