We stepped into the room with Fury headed straight for the table and resting on one of the seats near it, she pulled out a cigarette and lit it instantly as Lauren walked up to the table to the man facing the window staring out at the rest of the Academy grounds.
Some time of silence passes as the man exhales slowly.
"The Level Nine threat is a student trying to find his way back home." He chuckles before turning around. "How sad it must be for him to only find strangers and others that believe him to be nothing more than an imposter using the face of their once friend, brother... Lover."
I dig my nails into the palms of my hands. "What do you want from me?"
"To understand. Because you didn't choose to find your friends and family, but rather you came straight here to find the person that trapped you in the Void in the first place. Why spend that moment of respite chasing your killer?"
I shake my head at him. "I lost three years of my life-"
"Two years have passed since you were trapped."
"Three years!" I snap at him.
"Three years in there and two years of this world," he nods as he walks around the table and chooses to rest against it. "But still your course of action is one that we believe to be a dangerous one to encourage."
"Should I maybe thank him then?"
He gestures at me. "Look at you," he chuckles before crossing his arms. "Your power has grown past what your body can properly contain. You have an aura of darkness about you and one that you can barely control."
I shake my head at him. "I have control."
"Then prove it," he gestures for me to continue. "Hide it away from me. Erase it. A true master can hide his most powerful weapon and trick his adversaries into believing that you are nothing more than a human."
He chuckles as he continues. "But let's be honest. Are you human anymore? Right now? I see an untamed, chaotic savage. A true monster in the making and not a shred of heroism, those eyes, the way you carry yourself, your sneer... what about you is there to love? To cherish? To idolize?"
With a heavy exhale I focus my shadows to return to my body, sucking up every tiny bit it has been putting out to reveal my face fully. He narrows his eyes at me and in the end, chuckles as he claps for me.
"Bravo. You've proved me wrong."
"To the point," I growl at him.
"To the point," he flashes me a smile. "Right now the world wants an answer and I wonder what I should tell them. A human that survived the Void, A monster that came here but with no corpse, an imposter of someone that was once alive."
"The truth," I shake my head at him. "You tell them the truth."
"What is the truth?" He asks me.
"That I was pushed into a rift without an Anchor and left to die. There was no way to save me and I spent three years in that hell to crawl out of it and kill the fucker that doomed me to that fate."
