Shadows of our end - KDA x Male Reader (Original)

Act 2 - 026

Four out of many. I found the four of them and we all went straight to the place we used to hang out at with the idea to fix it up considering a lot of it was left to just... sit there and be occupied at a later time by literally anyone else.

We couldn't find the others.

Seraphine. Erica. Riven. Yasuo. Kayn. A lot of names from people seem to be missing as well as if they were nowhere to be found. But as we continued to spruce things up and get it ready for the reunion some of them flooded in.

Skye came along with a promise that Sam would be bringing Rey along. Akali's friends along with Kai'Sa's boyfriend came along. Juno also decided to show up but he hadn't said a word to me but instead went to talk with Evelynn.

But the group is smaller, there are people that should be here but they are either dead or gone. Such is life I suppose. Some of the old faces said that they would be showing up but apparently, the four of them made it clear it was about welcoming me back to everyone that decided to show up.

So the key part here is not picking a fight.

Or I hope that is the case.

Evelynn sides next to me. "I can't believe that girl, she really dumped her boyfriend because you came back," she glances at me. "Honestly? That's why staying single is easier so when your unhealthy attachment to a dead man suddenly becomes to justified affection."

I scoff at her way of wording it. "That sounds terrible."

She lifts her shoulders. "I mean come on, there's a lot of girls looking your way. Not to mention you already found the doc that you've been sleeping with ever since you met her," I furrow my brow at her. "What's her name again?"

"I honestly don't recall."

"Playing dumb is a bad look~"

"Ashe."

"That's the girl," she lifts herself. "Just save me a spot on the bed, will you?"

I chuckle at her. "Yeah, promise."

She walks away and I catch Ahri's idle stare. She lifts her hand into a little wave as her smile widens, I return the gesture and then find Akali who is busy shoving her friends around to get this place cleaned up a bit. And finally... Kai'Sa whose attention is partly on her boyfriend and partly on the area around us.

Tomorrow is a new day, but tonight? Take it as it is and enjoy it for what it can be.

There's talk that everyone that was here and is still alive will be doing their best to show up but I don't expect a lot of people to show. Then again, I am also expecting people to pick a fight because why wouldn't they?

Troy should stay out of my way, but for that same reason, I am probably not going to see Erica. Why would she ever go back to that douche? I shouldn't ask, people have their reasons for doing things but it doesn't mean I have to agree with it I guess.

"Sup?" I glance to my side to see Rey and Sam.

I crack a smile. "Sup?" Sam walks over to give me a hug as I look down at her. "Hey, Sam."

Rey crosses her arms. "Should actually be pissed because I was in the middle of that defence, that worm of yours mixed with the other thing, impossible to get close to you. Unlucky that I could never properly control my powers to force so many shadows to just stop."

I shake my head at her. "One way to say you missed me."

She shakes her head at me. "At least I still have some of my team left," she steps forward to give me a semi-hug. "This time, put on the anchor before you start exploring."

"As long as you make sure nobody kicks me in."

"Deal," she pulls away from me.

I shake my head at her.

"How you been holding up?" I ask her.

"Barely holding," she answers. Then glancing at the people around this, "I feel like a lot of people here needed this more than you think, I haven't seen people in good spirits for a while, like we forgot how to celebrate the smallest things."

Sam nods. "It's been like this for a while."

I then state, "Should take what we can, otherwise, it is gone."

Rey asks me, "Talked to Skye?"

I nod as I gesture to Sam. "Sam's been helping out getting all of you in the same place to talk with me."

She looks at her. "Didn't even know she was your blood till Skye pointed out that you too look alike, honestly, I forgot what you looked like after a while." She lifts her gaze to the sky. "Always been bad remembering names and faces."

I furrow my brow. "Rey-"

She shakes her head. "Know what you are going to say. But... it's been years. Seen more people close to me die than I am willing to let go of, got used to the death. My heart has been sick and can't take it anymore... so don't ask me why my smile looks like this," she looks at me, "it's been hard to convince myself that everything's going to be fine."

"We'll make it out somehow, we have to."

"Otherwise it wouldn't be fair," she states. "Besides, that's what Kat, Akane... all of them would have wanted us to live instead of killing ourselves. Even if now is a bit too late, at least I can show them that we've been trying, right?"

With a firm nod. "We'll make the most out of it, we'll give it our all."

"We better."
