"If I didn't know any better," I turn around to hear a familiar voice. Evelynn is standing across from me with her arms crossed and shaking her head at me with a little smile, "I'd have said you fight like a demon."

"I..."

She arches her brow at me. "Didn't think I wasn't going to watch that happen? Come on, you know it is hard to keep your eyes off you." She holds her smile but then lets it fade. "But seeing you do that, I've never looked at someone with such a stupid fucking smile on my face."

I step closer and quickly close the distance to wrap my arms around her shoulders. I didn't know if it was appropriate but she did the same as I felt her hold me close to her, she chuckled at first but then it almost sounded like she was going to cry.

"I missed you... so fucking much," I whimper. "I... I don't know what to do, I just wanted to see you all again but I wasn't sure."

"Don't-" She sighs before pulling apart. "It took a lot to force myself to come and talk to you, I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I was scared that the person that came back wouldn't have been the same... but my god you've changed but it is still you."

I nod with a chuckle. "I made it back."

"Can see that," she nods slowly. "Took your fucking time."

I lower my gaze as I return the nod. "So did you," I gesture at her before shrugging at her with a smile.

"Yeah... yeah I did." She takes a deep breath. "But next time, do me a favour. Don't burn the world down just to show that you are back because good god I wasn't mentally ready to be fighting the person I loved."

"Loved?" I scoff. "You thought that highly of me?"

She furrows her brow at me. "Please, right now? I don't have the strength in me to deal with you when you knew that I couldn't keep my hands off of you... now you are just even more delicious." I can't help but smile like an idiot. "It suits you, the whole darkness makes you have that... allure. Maybe that's just the demon in me."

"Evelynn..."

"A bit too much?"

I shake my head. "I needed this," I reassure her that she's fine. "A part of me felt so lost coming back and it was killing me. It took a bit for me to come to terms with what had happened, I forgot that the world moved on without me-"

She shakes her head. "My hand is open, for whenever you catch you. Just reach for me and I will drag you with me even after you can't walk anymore," she lifts her hands to cup my face. "Let me shoulder that agony, leave it all to me."

I rest my head in her hands. "This moment... I'm sorry."

She lifts my face to look her in the eye as she closes the distance between the two of us. She kisses me long and slowly as I feel like I am melting into her. This moment with her holding me felt like it was all I needed to console me, to erase that worry I once had.

I've been waiting for this moment, to be embraced by her softness. She pulls away and rests her forehead against mine and with a heavy exhale she shakes her head as if she was nuzzling her face against mine.

"Don't you dare disappear on us again, I won't forgive you next time."

I chuckle. "Can't, they've no way to keep me there anymore."

"With powers like that, I don't doubt that for a single second." She pulls away from me and spins around to walk away from me. "Come on, we've plenty to talk about. And plenty to complain about."
