"I didn't think it possible," the two of us turn to meet a familiar yet older face. "I had to make sure for myself because... well I am all too used to dead friends. Just... that this time I happy to hear one of them came back."
I scoff before I shake my head. "Skye?"
"Thanks for bringing him here, Sam." She flashes a weak smile. "I... well I know I am interrupting your plans but... I just wanted to see him for myself. Have a lot of things I want to say as well."
Sam shakes her head, she flashes me a smile. "I am headed back, see you around." She flashes Skye a smile who nods at her as she leaves.
"The most you've spoken to me in four years," I joke.
She lifts her shoulders with a laugh. "Yeah... but I guess I don't have anybody to speak for me anymore." I furrow my brow as she takes a deep breath. "Sorry that I am just laying it out as it is but I wanted you to know before you started searching for everyone."
I can see her smile shift into a depressed smile. "Skye? What happened?"
"Sam told you about the Waves, right?" I nod. "Katherine died during the first wave, Valk lost his eyes with nobody able to heal his wounds, Griff... he left after everyone in our team was starting to die and his depression killed everything for him."
I furrow my brow at the news. "Kat's dead?"
She nods. "Yeah," she shakes her head. "Rey... Rey is still around, we've been invited to join Ahri's team because we had nowhere else to go and we've been happy there."
"Fuck..." I shoot a glance at the cemetery, wondering how many of these people died after me. "We were all surviving... weren't we?"
She gestures at me. "You had the worst, but yeah. I didn't know how else to tell you than just getting it out of the way because... I mean, rather me telling you than someone telling you after you ask where they are."
Then gesturing for us to leave, I follow next to her. "How have you been?"
"Fine, actually. Been talking a lot more than I wanted to, if I have to be honest but a girl has to use her voice to get anything across. No point in me hiding away forever... wanted to be a bit more like Kat but she was a bit too energetic, I don't think I can pull it off."
I watch her carefully. "She'd be more than ecstatic to see you now, I can imagine her non-stop rambling and praise."
"I can too," she nods slowly. "The days just don't feel the same anymore, but at least I get to see someone come back from the dead." Even if it isn't the person you wanted to see. "There hasn't been much to smile about lately, I hope that things will start to change soon because at this rate the pressure will kill me before anything else gets to."
"Been depressed?"
"Everything has." She states. "Nobody is enjoying their lives as much as they did anymore, (Y/N). Even the girls are trying to make something out of everything after the Waves hit but... it is as if the world came just in time to kick the hope out from under our feet."
She continues. "A lot of us have barely been able to keep a smile going and yesterday I saw all of them in the same place for the first time in a long time, all of the people that were here when we dug your grave. Every last one of them was there, even the people that hated you."
"Was he there?"
She nods. "Troy was. Yes."
"To spit on my grave, to keep me there."
"It was him, wasn't it?" she asked it like a question but it felt like she was just confirming a suspicion. "I knew it had to be him but what proof did we have? What point in killing someone on a hunch?"
I rub my neck. "I am in a bind anyway, I can't touch him."
She nods. "The Valka name is protecting his ass," she states. "You'll learn more about them, they've been everywhere these past two years."
"How is everyone else?"
She tilts her head to the side. "It's been pretty bad, but everyone's been managing. Rey didn't care for relationships, I've been trying my best to become stronger so I couldn't focus on anything else. Erica... is in this weird relationship with Troy, but she looks like she was ready to kill herself at any moment."
"Erica?" I furrow my brow at her.
"You don't understand," she breathes out, "maybe you do. But these past two years haven't been treating any of us kindly, we've lost families, we've lost friends... and amid all that grief, here you are."
"Like a fucking phantom of spite," I mutter.
"They won't blame you for surviving."
"Maybe..."
She then continues. "Evelynn's been... I don't know. She doesn't talk to me much, she barely shows up and has been hanging out with Troy over these two years because she got pissed at the friend groups because... well, you."
"What about me?"
"She blamed Troy, she made it clear that she blamed him. People didn't want to believe her, so she distanced herself for the sake of everyone else," she sighs. "She's been through all kinds of hells and recently Troy has been forcing her to be part of the old group and he's been... well he has been helping everyone get along by showing them it could have been worse."
"Is it working?" I chuckle.
"He has a way with words that makes it feel like hating him is easier than hating the people you cared about." She shakes her head before stating, "I think he has a good heart, a man that is willing to draw his own blood to prove a point to others, or maybe he just wants to be spiteful and find his own ways to show people how stupid they are."
"But everyone's been trying to get by. Yasuo, Riven, Kayn. There are even more new faces. Ahri and Kai'Sa have been dating these past few months after the Waves stopped.I think Akali and Seraphine were trying to see people, but I don't know how that went for any of them."
They moved on with their lives, which is to be expected.
"And you?"
She lifts her shoulders. "Praying to see the light," she points at me, "I guess the darkness will have to do, just make sure you pick the right side."
I snort. "Will do." I then asked her, "Reason why did you specifically update me on their relationship status?"
"Rey said you were interested in them," she twists her lips to the side. "Maybe you probably just wanted to hear that everyone's been doing good but... then I'd be lying."
I nod slowly. "Let's see if we can turn things around, for all of us."
