Xavier's POV
I sauntered around my desk in attempt to stretch my legs. I've been in my office all day grading papers. Sitting in the same place for hours on end is a lot more tiring than people might think. I dug into the plastic bag sitting on my desk. Aria swung by nearly an hour ago with food that I hadn't even gotten to touch.
It looked to be a take out meal from the sushi bar we usually go to but it's certainly cold by now. I looked inside of the white styrofoam platter just to peak at what she got me before closing it and grabbing the bag. The lounge down the hall has a staff only room with a microwave.
With my phone and the food I headed down the hall to the lounge. As I got closer I heard the faint sound of laughter. The closer I got the more I recognized the voices and the laughing that I heard.
Luna
I rounded the corner and breached the doorway where I stopped all movement for a moment. There she was, beautiful as ever. Her hair gathered up at the top of her head and her curls spilling into her face. Her hair got longer.
She hadn't noticed me as she turned to look at Mason. The way they were positioned looked quite...intimate. They were far to close for comfort and because of the way she was slightly leaned over him it just didn't look right. When I noticed the way her hand seemed far to close to his thigh my pulse quickened.
It bothered me. The way he looked at her bothers me. I cleared my throat suddenly and her head whipped around in my direction. Her eyes landed on mine and my gaze softened as she looked at me.
In seconds I was reminded of how much I miss her. But I couldn't help the pang of jealousy that struck my heart like a hammer. I couldn't help the distasteful look I threw at Mason. But he didn't seem to notice. He just grinned at me like the idiot he is and asked how I was.
"Lovely." I surmised as I walked past them. "And you?"
"Great!" Mason replied.
I could practically see how anxious Luna had become. It was nice to see that I still had the same affect on her. I let myself into the staff room and let out a breath I didn't know that I was holding.
I wanted nothing more than to grab Luna's hand and pull her away from him. But I couldn't do that.
I tried to focus on the task at hand instead of my girlfriend who I haven't spoken to in weeks. I wonder if she's tried to contact me.
If so, would she know that she was blocked all that time? God knows what she could be thinking about that. The sound of the microwave finishing alerted me and pulled me from my thoughts.
I grabbed my food and put it back in the bag, then exited the room. As I was coming out I instinctively turned my head to look to Luna and Mason.
As I did so she was once again too close for comfort and he was reaching over to do god knows what. All I know is his hand came dangerously close to her face. I let the door slam harshly behind me as rage fueled me. What the hell is going on!?
"Luna." I started roughly. "You left your book in my office. I sent an email about it to know when you would be coming to get it." I lied.
She jumped and looked over to me with wide eyes. She looked disheveled and surprised for some reason there was also a piece of lettuce hanging in her hair. "Oh yeah I did. I thought I replied but I guess I didn't hit send. I can come and get it now."
She played along just like I hoped she would. She stood from her place and mumbled something I couldn't bother to listen to, to Mason.
I began to walk and she trailed behind me. The walk to my office seemed tauntingly long. But the minute we stepped inside I shut the door and locked it behind her. "Xavier I don't know if this—"
