"I think I'm gaining weight." I mumbled as I stood in the mirror of Xaviers bed room.
He was laid on the bed in his underwear reading a book. I stood in the mirror in a sports bra and Nike pros, observing myself. He didn't say anything in response, so I turned to catch his attention.
"Do you think I've gained weight?" I asked. "No, what makes you say that?" He asked as he moved the book from in front of him.
"Look at my stomach?" I pointed. He lifted his head and furrowed his eyebrows. "It looks the same as it always does..." he mumbled.
I frowned as he dropped his head and continued reading. Maybe I was just a little blotted, but my ass certainly got a little bigger. Hopefully my new spontaneous weight gain doesn't get to my boobs because they are big enough. I have been eating a lot more because of my birth control. Its not like I could just stop taking that though. Condoms will be my next choice of contraception if the pill actually is encouraging increased appetite.
I pulled my hair into a ponytail and went to his drawer to find a t shirt to sleep in. I climbed into the bed beside him and turned away from him as I settled under the blanket. I went to google on my phone and started to search up all the reasons why I could be gaining weight. I do plenty of exercise, I've even joined Xavier in his home gym a few times, I eat healthy, and I sleep well enough.
It felt silly of me to start obsessing over something like this, but I've always been pretty conscious of my figure. Never to the point where I was harming myself or anything, but I was just always in the mirror noticing things that no one else did. Maybe I was just delusional.
My mind was like a black hole sometimes so before I could start to obsess over this more, I switched tabs and started to look at some outfits on Fashion Nova.
"Lu?"
"Hmm." I answered. I didn't really bother turning around. "What do you want to do for your birthday?"
My eyebrows furrowed as I began to turn to him. "I don't really do anything for my birthday, so nothing." I honestly forgot that it was almost my birthday. That wasn't really something surprising though.
"Nothing?!"
"I mean my dad always bakes me a cake and my family sings happy birthday, but I don't really do anything special outside of that."
"Why not?"
I shrugged. "Well, I don't like parties and I don't have enough friends to even have one. I realize that, that sounds depressing but its just how its always been." I explained.
"How about I take you somewhere for your birthday this year?"
"Like where?"
"Well after you left our table the other night, my mother went in about wishing she had a face like yours in her fashion show this weekend. Aria suggested that she invite you to come."
"Your mother wants me to come to her fashion show?!" I asked excitedly. "Yes. I figured we could go to that and do some other things I planned in the city."
"Things like what?"
"That, my love, is a surprise." Luckily for me, my birthday is on Sunday, so I won't be waiting long for the surprise.
"Alright, I appreciate the thought." I grinned. "Of course."
"And I saw what you were Googling." He sighed. "I told you, nothing has changed. There's nothing to worry about."
"How can you be so sure? You weren't really looking."
He pulled the blanket down and lifted the shirt so my stomach was uncovered. "You look good, you always look good. Even if you did gain weight you'd still be perfect. I promise."
I didn't have anything to say, so instead I leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his lips. "I appreciate you."
The following morning was cold and rainy. I styled a pair of sweatpants, one of Xaviers t shirts, and my coat with black sneakers before rushing to get to class. Like usual Xavier was gone before me, so I locked up and made my way onto campus.
I parked in the lot in my usual parking space and made my way to class. The walk was short, thankfully. It was far too cold to have to walk for long periods of time. I trailed slowly behind a group of girls who whispered and giggled amongst themselves.
"Yo Luna!"
I turned my head sharply at the sound of my name. It was Nadia screaming my name like a crazy person. She didn't care about the stares she received. She just skipped to me like she was skipping through a field of daisies. "Girl where have you been? I haven't seen you at home in like a week."
"I stayed with um..my boyfriend for a couple days and the rest I was at home. We just don't get home at the same time." I shrugged.
"This infamous boyfriend that you've told me so little about." She hummed. "What?"
"I just think its interesting that you got a man and you haven't shown me what he looks like."
"I would've, but you know when I started talking to him we weren't talking."
"Right of course. Does he go here?"
"Not exactly."
"What does that mean?"
"He doesn't go here anymore."
"Oh he's older. When you come home—if you come home—I want to hear all about him." She insisted. "Yeah we'll see about all that."
"You going home this weekend right?"
"I don't think so, why?"
"What do you mean? Your dads making cake!"
"I know, I just...I might have other plans. I might only make it home Sunday afternoon. Im not sure yet."
"If these plans involve this boyfriend of yours, Im gonna shit myself. I can't believe you actually gave someone a shot. Here I was thinking you were never going to get over Quincy."
I sighed heavily at her words. "Sorry, that was a bit much."
"You think?"
