Luna's POV
I went back inside the building but I never went back into the actual party. I waited a whole twenty minutes before I went back outside to find Xavier. I made it to the parking lot without being seen.
As I stepped out into the night I held my jacket closer to me and looked around for Xaviers car. I didn't even see any headlights. "Luna."
I jumped nearly a foot in the air at the sound of someone whispering my name. "Xavier?"
A shadow created from the light of moon grabbed my attention until Xavier came all the way around the pillar he was standing behind. "Why are you hiding like that, you scared me." I whispered and lightly hit his chest.
"Sorry." He chuckled. "You ready to go?"
"Yeah."
He held my hand in his and pulled me along with him as he ran down the stone stairs. I giggled as my hair and my dress flew behind me as I ran. Im surprised I didn't break my ankle considering the fact that I was still in heels.
He led me all the way to a white Benz at the end of the parking lot. "You got a new car?"
"It was a Christmas present." He smiled as he opened my door for me. "I want to be adopted into your family." I joked as I got into the car.
We spent the ride singing Alicia Keys at the top of our lungs. Our laughing and obnoxious singing didn't end until we got to his house.
He helped me out of the car and led me to the door. "You hungry?"
"Not really. I just want a shower and a dash of Chardonnay." I replied. "Chardonnay? Aren't you 20?" He questioned.
"Who's gonna know?" I asked as I propped my hand on my hip. "My parents have been letting me have little sips of wine or beer since I was 18." I shrugged.
"I'll see what I can find in the cellar."
"You have a wine cellar?!"
"Yeah, my mom thought it would be a nice addition."
He allowed me to step inside before him and instructed me to make myself at home. I leaned against the wall and lifted my leg into an awkward position to get my heels off while he loosened his tie. "I'm gonna make some nachos while you get yourself ready for bed."
"Okay, can we watch movies?" I asked with a child like excitement to my voice. "We can do anything you want. Follow me I'll show you to the guest room."
I appreciated how he took the step to offer me my own space separate from his. It was like he was trying to make sure I felt comfortable. It made me want to suck his di—
"Here it is."
I pulled myself from my thoughts and smiled. "Thank you."
I peered into the room and looked at what was sitting on the bed. "What's all this?" I asked as I stepped towards it. "All the things I know you like. There's a scrub, some lotion, and perfume. There's bath salts too." He explained.
"You are amazing." I mumbled as I smelled the scrub. "I'm flattered. Do your thing. I'm gonna take a shower myself."
I nodded and he shut the door behind him when he left.
I tried my best not to take too long in the bathroom but there's six shower heads, LED lights, a speaker, and fancy aroma therapy steam. Needless to say I spent thirty minutes in the shower. I felt like one of those aesthetic Shower Tik Tok people.
I tried to get dressed quickly because I was already taking forever. I put on a t shirt, shorts, and socks before making my way to the kitchen.
Xavier was leaning against the counter scrolling through his phone with two wine glasses sitting on the island in front of him. "Sorry it took me so long. One song turned into two and I ended having a party while showering." I explained.
"Don't apologize love." He smiled softly. Something about his mood seemed a little different than when he left me. I approached him and wrapped my arms around his waist while looking up into his eyes. "You okay?"
"Yeah just a little more tired than I'd care to admit. I found that Chardonnay." He reached over to grab the glass for me and I smiled. "I appreciate it and I had fun tonight even though I wish I would've gotten to dance with you."
"I couldn't tell you seemed to be having plenty of fun dancing with Mason." He teased jokingly. "I spent the whole night wishing he was you."
"Did you have fun with your colleagues?" I asked. He gave me a bored look that I just had to laugh at. "They don't seem that bad. Dean Thomas is so nice and William was very excited to be there. That other guy Noah was pretty nice too and so was—everyone else."
"You can say her name. Luna." He chuckled. "Lilliana was so nice. You know she told me I could stop by her office anytime?"
"She can be very resourceful for you. But keep her at arms length...for my sake?"
I raised an eyebrow at that, silently begging for him to elaborate. "She just...she called our relationship into question before I left tonight and I just don't want her to make anything messy."
"I see...well I can't be too stand off-ish then she'll think I don't really like her because you're her ex." I added. "Right."
"Don't worry, okay." I assured him.
He nodded with a sigh. His mood still seemed low, but I wanted to see him smile. So I pulled out my phone and played a random Ed Sheeran song and grabbed his hands. "What's happening?"
"I'm getting my dance."
He quickly fell into step with my very offbeat slow dancing. I tried to get us back in the flow of the song but Xavier was very clearly not great at this. "Let me lead." I laughed. He nodded as he blushed profusely. Once he gave me the control over our dance we got back on beat.
I laid my head on his chest and his rested on top of mine. "Did anything else happen tonight?" I asked him.
"Nothing too eventful." He shrugged. "Did you have fun?"
"Im definitely having fun now."
My heart fluttered at the reply and I smiled softly. "Me too."
We continued to dance until three songs passed and he was practically carrying me to the couch. A Corpse Bride played on the tv and we shared popcorn as we watched it.
At this point I felt like I was living on a cloud. Things between him and I were going better than I expected. But I never get my expectations too high because i'm always let down.
