Christmas came and went quickly and before I knew it I was back at my apartment. I'd arrived very early so I could nap before Xavier came to pick me up. Apparently wherever he was taking me was going to be an overnight thing. He gave me very easy instructions late last night to prepare myself. One of which was to get rest.
I stumbled in at around 7am and crashed until 10am. I got up in perfect timing to pack a small duffle with pajamas and something to wear tomorrow. I opened my underwear drawer and stared at the couple pairs of lingerie I owned. I grabbed a lacy red set and a black set that complimented my complexion and put it in my bag. Stay ready and you never have to get ready. By the time I was ready Xavier was outside.
As I was exiting my room, Nadia was coming into the apartment. I stopped in my tracks for a second to look at her before I kept moving. She looked like she wanted to ask me something but I was too busy slipping out the door to give her the chance.
I made my way to Xavier's car quickly and looked around for anyone as I opened the back door. I nearly placed my bag in before getting in the front seat. "Hi." I greeted with a small smile.
"Hey beautiful. I missed you."
That made my smile widen and when he leaned over to kiss me on the cheek I practically melted. "I missed you too."
"You ready?"
"Yes. Can we stop at Chick fil a though?"
He nodded with a smile as he pulled off. "So tell me all about your trip."
"Well not much happened that I didn't tell you over the phone honestly. My parents were kinda off on their own the whole time and Aria spent most of her time with her boyfriend. I think my favorite part was my uncle badgering me about getting married." He chuckled.
"Oh God."
"You know he told me he's starting to think that I want to die alone."
I gasped slightly before I started laughing. "That's not funny but it's so funny at the same time."
"Other than that everything went well. What about you?"
"Well everything was all smooth sailing. We basically did winter olympics the other day and my back is still sore because of it. My brother thought it would be so funny to make us fall on ice yesterday."
"Your family sounds like fun."
"They try to be. As much as they can anyway...I told them about my job with you."
"Oh really? What'd they say?"
"Well, let's just say they googled you and boy was my aunt impressed. She even suggested that I get in well with a sibling, cousin, or even an uncle." I shared.
He laughed heartily at that. "They also went on and on about how attractive you are. By the way you don't have a secret family lying around do you?"
"What?!" He laughed even harder. "My aunt asked if you were married or if you had any kids. She's senile so she didn't believe it when I said no. In her head you have two kids and secret wife."
"I wish I could meet her. She's hilarious."
"I wish you could too. She's coming here with my parents because her daughter is touring the school on January 10th. They might see you on campus." I shrugged.
"You should bring them by my office then. I'd love to meet them." He suggested. "Are you sure about that? I don't know that that's a good idea."
"Why not. I'm sure they'd love to meet your employer."
"Oh yeah they absolutely would." I snorted. "So, bring them by."
Xavier liked to test the limits. If there was anything I'd learned about him in the past few months it was that. He took risks and part of it was because he could so easily get away with it. He's persuasive and he knows it. Another thing that makes him a good lawyer. It is also beneficial to him because he could practically talk someone into anything. I'm a prime example. "Okay."
A bit of silence settled in the car before he spoke again.
"You remember that auction I was telling you about?"
"Yes." I replied wondering where this was going.
"Well, My buddy told me it's supposed to be a masquerade ball and auction. You should come." He stated. "With you?"
"Sort of. I have two tickets since my parents aren't going anymore and Aria doesn't want to go. You could have one. Plenty of other students will be there it's a fundraiser type of thing. So if you want to dress up like a princess then nows your chance."
"Do you think it's a good idea?"
"Yeah why not. You'll probably barely see me. We probably won't be able to spend a whole lot of time together to avoid any suspicions, so If you want you can bring a friend along."
I almost scoffed at that. What friend am I going to bring along? I gave a thought for a minute before I sighed. "Okay, I'll come. But where am I getting the attire for this. I need to go shopping. When is it?!"
"Sunday." He winced. I hit his shoulder playfully and gasped. "That's literally two days from now. I need to shop immediately. Where do you even get the right things for this!"
"I know a place. Don't worry."
