"Congratulations, Luke!" I exclaimed as my family and I joined each other out on the side walk outside of the school.
"It was so nice. Everything came together exactly how you planned."
"Let's hit the diner for dinner." Dad suggested. The four of us walked down the street to the car laughing at nothing in particular.
Getting to the diner was quick since it was only around the corner. We would have walked if I wasn't raining. Finding seating in the diner was easy. We sat in our usual spot by the windows towards the back. We'd been here so often that the waitresses knew our names. "Usual for y'all tonight?" The waitress, Candice asked.
"Yes ma'am." Dad smiled.
"How'd you finish off the semester, Lu?" Dad asked. "Good, I've gotta wait for my final grades for a coupes classes but I'm confident that I did well."
"That's good to hear. I don't think I've ever heard you this...assertive or confident." Mom smiled. "I like it." Lucas chimed in.
"When's prom?" I asked Luke. "Next Friday and graduation is exactly one month after that."
"Jeez why so far apart?"
"I don't know something about preparation for the future or some crap like that." He shrugged. "Where's your senior trip?"
"Miami." He grinned.
"Miami? How much is that gonna cost?"
"A lot which is why we haven't decided yet if he's going." Dad interjected. Lucas let out a huff and settled back against the booth. "It's just...with the trip back to the cape and everything else we don't know if we can swing it."
"What do you mean everything else?" I surmised.
"They're talking about my tuition and the bills. But thankfully it's the last month for that."
"How much is the trip?"
"$400. Includes the flight there and back, hotel, trip to universal, and maybe a little spending money. But I've been saving up."
"How much do you have saved?" I asked. "$175."
I smiled at my brother softly and shook my head. It was nice that he was so hopeful. "I can help."
"No, you can't. You've got to focus on your bills." Dad said.
"I've only got two bills that I actually have to pay considering financial aid takes care of everything else. I have plenty saved so I can just—"
"It's okay, Luna. I appreciate you for offering, but you don't have to." Lucas replied. I hated seeing the sad look on his face so I'd have to help him in anyway I could. "Oh no I'm helping. Now when will you be telling everyone where you're going for school?"
"At my college reveal party at the end of June."
"Wow, you know I'm gonna nag you until then." I warned him. "Oh I know."
"At least giving me a little hint."
"They've got a good basketball team." He grinned. "That's such a corny hint. What's their mascot?"
"I can't tell you it'll ruin the surprise."
"At least tell me you've got good scholarships."
Instead of speaking as a response, he gave me a small smirk and raised his eyebrows. "No way, you got a full ride?!"
"And five other scholarships." Mom said with pride laced in her voice.
I crushed my brother in a side hug. "I'm so proud of you!"
"How're things with that boyfriend of yours?" Mom asked to change the subject. "Still taking a break?"
"Well um, our break officially ended today." I grinned at the thought of it.
"When will we get to meet him?"
"Maybe, before we go on vacation."
"You should bring him to the reveal party." Lucas suggested. "I don't know that, that would be the best place to bring him. I mean—"
"That's the perfect place. We'll all be there and if that bracelet he bought you says anything, he'll bring a pretty nice gift. See if you can get him to get me a mini fridge." Lucas joked. "Please, Luke." I laughed.
Even though I laughed, I was 100% sure that If I asked, Xavier would buy anything that Lucas needed. "I think that'll be a lovely idea."
"You sure that wouldn't be too soon?" I asked them. "Absolutely not. I need to know who got my baby's attention." Dad surmised.
"Okay, he'll be really happy to know he's invited."
After having dinner we went back home to turn it in for the night. I had a big day ahead of me tomorrow. I don't even know what I'm going to wear yet.
As I prepared myself to get in the shower, my phone rang with a Group FaceTime call from Aria and Paris. "Luna!" Paris exclaimed the second I joined the call.
"Hi!"
"Hey girl, what's going on?"
"Nothing much, what's up?" I asked. "Well we have a bit of an issue for tomorrow." Aria started.
"Oh? What happened?"
"The chef got the wrong time and won't be able to come at the time he's supposed to show up. So we have to move dinner to lunch."
"Oh that's not that big of a deal. I mean I don't have an outfit yet, but I can figure it out. What time do you want me to come help set up?" I asked casually.
"I told her you'd be cool with it. She's so dramatic." Paris sighed. "Can you come at noon. The chef will be there at eleven."
"Okay sounds good. It's really no big deal."
"See! I told you Aria. You know she's dramatic. She thought you weren't gonna help."
"Of course I will!"
"And this is why you're the best!"
"Thanks." I laughed. "I'm about to take a shower though, so I'll call y'all tomorrow."
"Good night!"
Aria blew a kiss to the screen and Paris waved before I left the call. I tossed my phone on the bed and went to shower. I tried to keep it short and thorough, I didn't want to run up the water bill. When I got out, I wrapped myself in a towel and pulled off my shower cap.
I walked past my window in search of my glasses, but had no luck finding them near my desk. I rolled my eyes and went to check for them in the bathroom. As I came back out I heard my phone ringing on the bed. I put my glasses on to check who it was.
The stupidest grin spread onto my face when I saw Xavier's name. I grabbed the phone quickly and answered it. "Hello?"
"You know, you should really close the blinds when it gets dark." His deep voice met my ears and my smile widened even though I was deeply confused by what he was saying. "What?"
"Come to the window."
I furrowed my eyebrows and did as told. I peered out of the window and my eyes fell upon Xavier leaning against his car with the phone against his ear. "You know this is reminding me of that princess movie you made me watch."
I still was in a state of shock. "How..how are you here right now?" I asked.
"I took advantage of the fact that you shared your location with me. I know that it sounds crazy, but I couldn't wait any longer to see you."
"You are...astonishing."
"It was a long drive, princess, but it was worth it. Come on down so I can kiss you, please."
