(Xaviers POV)

I woke up long before Luna did and decided to get myself ready for the day. I didn't have much planned. Especially since it's snowing. We would probably spend most of our time inside and I would be praying that the snow would be light by the evening.

I ordered room service for her and I after my workout and waited in the living room for her to emerge from the bedroom. As I waited I occupied myself by scrolling through my phone. I had a couple of missed calls and unread texts that I didn't really want to get back to.

But when I saw that the majority of the messages were from Jordan, I went ahead to check them out. It was just an update on the meeting he had yesterday. He got the promotion he wanted and he was even getting an upgrade to his office.

I sent back a funny gif and promised that we would celebrate when I got back. Jordan deserved it. He's one of the best advisors the school has.

"Xavier?"

I lifted my head and turned to find Luna coming down the short hallway rubbing her eye. She was dressed in my t shirt and her purple bonnet. She hated wearing it around me but I always thought it was cute.

"I'm right here, love."

Her green eyes found me with ease and a small smile graced her features. She was so damn beautiful. Gorgeous. Her heart shaped face, brown skin, almond eyes, and full lips were perfect. She was just perfect.

"I'm nauseous." She grumbled as she grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator. I furrowed my eyebrows at the sound of that. She didn't drink last night. Maybe she just needed something to settle her stomach.

"I'll ask room service to bring crackers."

"Thanks. Let me know when they get here. I'm getting back in the bed."

I only nodded and called room service to add the crackers. When she was retired back to the bedroom I was left alone once again. I should've known she wasn't feeling well when she came out the room with her bonnet on.

Hopefully she felt better soon, I had plans for tonight and I can't have her sick.

By the time the food came she was knocked out, curled into a ball in the middle of the bed. She was only in here for 15 minutes. "Luna." I called.

"Hmm?"

"Foods here."

"I'll be out in a second."

I left her alone and she joined me about five minutes later. We ate in mostly silence except for the tv playing in the background. "Are we going back early tomorrow?" She asked as she looked at her phone.

"Relatively, we should be back by noon. Why do you ask?"

"My parents have decided that they should just bring the party to me this year. They're going to come to mine and bring some of my other family. First real birthday party since I was ten."

"You don't sound excited."

"I am. I just don't really want a party. Like I appreciate the thought and all but I'd really rather not. Especially since Qu—"

She was still looking at her phone as she spoke to me but when she cut of her sentence it's like she snapped back into reality. She sat the phone down and cleared her throat. "Especially since what?"

"Nothing, it's nothing. Im just being dramatic. Maybe I'll suggest that we go out for drinks instead of staying in." She shrugged.

I just nodded and finished my food. There's something she's not telling me. How could she just not want her family to come and celebrate her. I mean she doesn't like parties but she didn't mind being with her family.

"You feeling better?" I asked when she stood and started to clean up. She hadn't even finished all of her food.

"Yeah thank you. I'm full. So I'm gonna put this away." She explained without looking at me.

My eyebrows furrowed and I frowned. I watched her clean up her space and she retreated back to the bedroom. She was clearly upset about something but she just didn't want to say what.

After I cleaned up I went to check on her. As I got closer to the room I heard her talking on the phone. "Mom said she's coming with a four tier cake."

"Oh god." Luna groaned. I snickered quietly. "Why aren't they just doing a cake this year?"

"Your birthday has been depressing for the past two years, Lu. Maybe she's trying to make it better this year." I'm guessing this was her brother.

"I get that. I don't know I just feel kinda sad right now. I know I shouldn't. I mean I'm turning 21 that's great. But I can't stop thinking about how Quincy won't be there." She admitted to him.

"I understand. You can't let that stop you from being able to celebrate with your family though Luna. If he were here he would be encouraging you to."

Who is Quincy? Why is his absence making her this upset about her family celebrating her birthday?

"You're right. I should be excited about this." She sighed.

"Yes You should. Now stop with the moping. It's annoying me." Her brother laughed.

"Anywho, Nadia came home blabbing about your new boyfriend by the way. Just to me though."

"Oh god no! Why'd she do that!"

"She thought I already knew. She saw me and started talking about how you're the happiest she's seen you since Quincys been gone and how she wanted to personally thank your boyfriend. I of course grilled her for more information. But apparently no one has any information."

My eyes widened a bit after hearing that. I'll have 59 ask her about this Quincy.

"Yeah we're kind of keeping it low key for right now."

"What does he look like? What's his name? Is he black?"

"No actually he's white."

"I hope not regular white. Please say he's at least spicy white." Her brother sighed. What the fuck is spicy white?

"He's Hispanic if that helps."

"Oh thank god he at least has a little flavor." Her brother rejoiced. "Shut up!"

Hearing her laugh made me smile. "When are you going to introduce him to everyone?"

"Soon."

"You never said his name."

"It's X-Mason." She lied. My smile turned into a deep set frown. Why didn't she just tell him my name. I bumped the door by accident and she turned her head to me. "Lucas I'll talk to you later. Just make sure you tell her that we should do dinner."

She hung up before he could respond and turned so she was fully facing me. "Why didn't you just tell him my real name?" I asked.

I couldn't help myself. "Because they already know that I work for you and they know your name. It won't take much to put two and two together." She shrugged.

"I can't wait for the semester to end." I sighed.

"Me too." She scoffed. "I feel like I'm digging myself in a whole by lying about your identity and it's gonna be hard to pull ourselves out of it later."

"I know, baby, but I promise it won't be for much longer." I swore. If I could quit now I would.

I feel like I'm going crazy. I let Luna come into my life and with every moment I spent with her she unraveled me. I would never consider dating a student let alone quitting because of them. I was letting go of the foundational work I created at an Ivy League university just so I could be with her.

I don't know how else to describe this but it can't be anything else. I think I'm in love with her.
