I was always quite anxious, but for the first time in a while I felt an extreme rush of anxiety. I know that I already was introduced to his mother, but now I was going to sitting down for a prolonged period of time eating and talking to her.
"You okay?" Xavier asked as he held onto my hand. "Mhm." I hummed.
His eyebrows furrowed but I ignored the questioning look on his face.
I looked down at my outfit again for the fifteenth time since we got in the elevator. I wore an all black ensemble consisting of a black pants, a black body suit with a tight turtle neck, and a long trench coat.
I paired it with black platformed boots.
"Are you sure I look okay?"
"Yes, for the hundredth time. You look beautiful."
I frowned because I was starting to think that he was just saying that to please me. He was probably getting annoyed that I keep asking. "Maybe I should put the other shoes on instead. I mean I want to look good while I sit with your family." I mumbled more to myself.
He sighed beside me and slipped his finger under my chin in order to raise my head to look at him. "You look beautiful. My moms going to love your outfit and they're going to love you, so you don't have to worry."
I nodded and he kissed my lips. "What's our cover story?" I asked when he pulled away.
"You're here with friends or classmates that are at a robotics competition. You came to go to her fashion show though. We bumped into each other and thought we'd get lunch but I had plans with the family so I invited you to tag along."
"Are you sure that doesn't sound silly?"
"My mom will believe anything I say and Aria is too lazy to check into how true that is."
I took deep breaths to keep myself calm the entire ride over to the little cafe we were having lunch. Upon arrival I immediately spotted the two blondes sitting in the center of the dining area.
The host led us over and the pair stood to greet us. "Oh Luna you are beautiful as always dear!" Mrs. Nixon greeted.
"Thank you Mrs. Nixon." I smiled.
Aria pulled me into a hug and once the greetings were out of the way we sat down. "So what did you say you were in the city for again?" Aria asked me.
I told her the lie we rehearsed and she nodded. "I thought you were a criminal justice major."
My eyes widened for a second and I left out a short laugh. "I am, it's my um—it's my friends robotics seminar. They invited me to come. Plus I heard I was invited to a certain show, so I decided to just tag along with them. I bumped into Xavier in the lobby of the place they were hosting the first meeting in earlier."
"Yeah we were already going to grab lunch, so I figured she could just tag along with us." Xavier added.
"Is this friend of yours that adorable brunette we saw you with?"
My eyes shifted to Xavier's quickly. "Mhm." I hummed and took a sip of my water.
"Oh he's adorable. When we were leaving I saw the way he was looking at you while you were laughing. Reminded me of my husband and I when we were your age." Mrs. Nixon sighed.
Xavier cleared his throat and I didn't miss the look of irritation that crossed his eyes. "And you're really not dating him?"
I shook my head no. "Could've fooled me." Aria grinned.
I did my very best to avoid Xavier eyes for the rest of lunch. The longer we sat there the more they asked about me. His mother was frequently asking about my relationship status and mentioning one of Xavier's cousins named Luis. I could tell that Xavier hated it. I'm sure he hated it even more when his mom gushed about how she could've sworn Mason and I were together because of how cute we looked.
"You're coming to the show tonight right?" Mrs. Nixon asked Xavier. "Yes mom I'll be there."
"Ooh Luna, you should bring your friends!"
"They have a thing tonight." I told her. "Aw that's too bad."
I just nodded as a response. "Well, We have to get going to finalize everything. I can't wait to see you later!"
Aria and Mrs. Nixon left while we waited for Xavier's card from the waitress. I dropped my head in my hands and sighed. "I feel so bad for lying." I mumbled.
"Trust me, so do I." He grumbled.
His mood changed from the moment we sat down but it only worsened as the day went on. Xavier wasn't the type to get loud when he was irritable. He got quiet. Concerning type of quiet. He got so in his head that he dug himself into a hole of emotion.
"We don't have to go tonight." I reminded him. "We're going."
I got dressed in my little black mini dress and leather heeled boots. The boots went over my knees and hugged my legs like skin. It took me over ten minutes to get them on.
The main look to make the outfit was the fur lined jacket that I wore. It was made to be worn kind of like a dress but because it was short I had to wear something under.
I decided to wear my hair wavy for the night and put on a pair of dark sunglasses. I was aware that it was dark out but I didn't want to being caught on camera and risk someone recognizing me.
I joined Xavier in the living room as soon as I was ready. He looked up from his phone for a split second before looking back down and then back up again. "Ay mami, me quieres matar." He mumbled lowly.
I didn't know what he was saying but he sounded so good while saying it. "Gracias." I winked.
He chuckled deeply as he stood to approach me. He was dressed in all black head to toe. It looked so good on him. Black dress pants, a black shirt that kind of looked mesh, and a fancy black leather jacket. "This is nice."
"You are enticing, belleza. How about we stay in and make a little show of our own?"
I gasped softly as he pulled me flush against him. I hit his shoulder playfully. "No sir, we promised your mom we'd be there."
"We didn't say we'd come on time. Come on real quick." He mumbled as he peppered kisses onto my jawline. I let out a soft moan as he did so. I almost gave in but I found it in me to push him away.
"Nope, not right now. You will not fuck up my hair. Let's go."
Xavier and took two separate forms of transport to the event and we arrived at different times. He came in with the other famous celebs and Aria let me in through the models entrance so I didn't have to wait in the line for regular entrance. "Thanks."
"Yeah no problem. I'm glad Xavier told you to come this way. You would've been outside for an hour trying to get in. You look gorgeous by the way!"
"Thank you. You do too despite the lack of clothing." I giggled. She was in a white robe and slippers waiting to get ready. She was to be part of the show.
"You gotta get out there. We tried to finesse a seat for you next to Xavier but I did you one better. You're sitting between Paris And Her brother Cairo."
I nodded and a security guard came and escorted me out to where the guests were.
I arrived at my seat and fed my lie to Paris when she asked what I was doing there. I had to text Nadia about this.
I sent her a slew of messages detailing the evening and by the time I put my phone away Xavier was settling in the seat across from me, next to Michael B Jordan. Good lord.
