Luna's POV
The following morning I woke up at 8am to start my drive back home. I wished Xavier could've stayed last night, but he ended up going back home at almost 1am despite my protests. I'm still in a state of shock that he actually showed up here. While it may seem creepy that he used my location to come and see me, it really was like a scene from a movie. I wasn't sure what it would be like when we saw each other again after he resigned. Everything he said to me last night washed away any nerves that were there.
I tried to get home as soon as possible so I could do my hair. If everything could go my way, I could be home by 9, showered by 9:30, hair and makeup done by 10:30, and dressed by 11. But of course nothing ever goes according to plan when I need to be somewhere at a certain time.
I didn't get home until 9:45 because traffic was backed up, so the rest of my routine was severely behind schedule. I rushed into the house, nearly stripping as I walked in the door so I could make the timing somewhat better.
I showered quickly and did my very best not to get my hair wet. It's been straight for a couple days so I figured I'd put it up in a sleek high ponytail with the two long curls in the front.
I did light makeup consisting of brows, mascara, a little concealer for my under eyes, and my favorite lip combo. It took under 15 minutes and when I finished it was 10:50.
I pulled on my robe to cross the hall and knock on Nadia's door. I didn't have time to go and buy a new outfit so I'd have to borrow something from her. I was only waiting for a few seconds before she swung the door open with a smile. "Hey what's up?"
"Hi, can you do me a huge favor and let me borrow an outfit?"
"Of course. What's the occasion."
"I'm going to a lunch party to celebrate Xavier's resignation." I shared. "Oh my god really! That time went by fast. Are you nervous?" She asked as she let me in her room.
"Not really. I mean I was at first. But I saw him last night so I should be good."
"Weren't you home last night?" She asked as she searched through her closet. "Yes, he drove all the way there to see me."
"Girl what?! Does he have siblings, a cousin, or something?" She joked. "Even if he did, you are still on a hiatus from dating." I reminded her.
"Don't remind me." She huffed.
She pulled out what looked like a shrunken piece of white material. "Girl what is this?"
"Just try it on please."
I looked at her skeptically but went ahead to my room to put it on anyway. It was certainly tight, but once I got it on and smoothed out I could see the appeal it was a halter top dress that hugged my figure and stopped at my calf. It was simple but coupled with a good pair of heels and accessories I could easily dress it up. I didn't want to look too dressed up.
I grabbed a pair of black sandal heels that had long strings to lace around my ankles. I pulled a black purse from my closet and put on silver rings, a watch, and bracelets. I never take off my necklace that Xavier bought me, so that was an added piece of jewelry.
I came out of my room and Nadia was standing in her doorway leaning against the frame, waiting. "Oh my god you look good." She praised.
"Really? You don't think it's too much?"
"Too much!? Never. You look amazing."
"Thank you i really appreciate the loner."
"Of course! It's no problem. Can I just say that Im really happy for you." She smiled. "Thank you, Nadia."
"And im proud of you too. You've grown a lot in the past few months and it's been nice to see you coming out of your shell. I hope everything works out with Xavier. I know we aren't close like we used to be but I still love you like a sister."
"That means a lot to me. I love you too." I kissed her cheek and pulled her into a tight hug. "I've gotta get going. Thank you again." I mumbled as I pulled away.
"Don't forget his gift."
I quickly went into my room to grab it and made my way to the door. "See you later!"
When I got downstairs I ran to the mail room before I left. I ordered Xavier one other gift, and it just arrived this morning. It's a customized cuff with the date we met engraved in the inside. On the outside I have his favorite Spanish proverb engraved.
Once I got the package I got in the car and started heading to Xavier's house. I arrived right on time. Before I got out, I sent a text to Aria to let her know I was here. By the time I made it to the front door she was pulling it open. "Oh perfect you're just in time!"
"Have you gotten anything started?" I asked as I stepped inside. "I actually did. Since it's lunch we're going to be eating in the backyard."
"Oh okay."
She handed me the shoe cover so I didn't have to walk around barefoot to the backyard. As we passed the kitchen I could smell the food being cooked. "It smells amazing. Where's Xavier?"
"Just around."
I furrowed my eyebrows but shrugged. She opened the back door and stepped out first. When I stepped outside I was expecting to see maybe a table set up on the patio with chairs or something.
"So when you said you got something started... what did you mean?" I laughed. "You're looking the wrong way." She pointed.
I looked up and over towards where she was pointing. My eyes widened when I caught sight of Xavier standing by the tall tree back here. There was a blanket laid out with a basket on top of it. "I don't—I don't understand." I smiled nervously as he offered us a small wave.
"You told me you didn't have anything planned the other day so I took it upon myself to plan a picnic for y'all before dinner." Aria grinned.
"That was so sweet of you, Aria!" I exclaimed as I pulled her into a hug. "Don't mention it. Im gonna go inside and help set up for dinner. You two should just enjoy your time together."
I let her go back inside and met Xavier over by the tree. "Were you planning this with her?"
"She didn't tell me anything until this morning actually." He chuckled. The second I was close enough he wrapped his arms around my waist and mine went over his shoulders.
"Never knew she could have such good ideas." He said. I giggled as I looked up at him. "She tries her best."
"Does this count as our do over first date?" I asked. "This is the prequel. I spent the drive home last night putting together our next five dates already."
"I love that you're so eager." I smiled. "And I love you."
"I love you too."
