Xaviers POV
I stepped into the restaurant behind Aria with a frown already settled on my face. For some odd reason our parents decided to come into town, so we could have lunch together. Of all the things I was expecting, one of them wasn't to spot Luna here. With that guy from my class much less.
But here she was laughing at something he'd said to her. We were seated a few feet away from them and from my position at the squared table i was able to get a clear view of her. "How has work been?" My dad asked me.
"Which job?" I sighed. "Both."
"Fine i suppose. No shortage of work to do for the Santana's and there's never a dull moment as a professor."
"You look stressed, honey. When will you have time off?" My mom asked me. "Not until thanksgiving break."
"Will you be home then?" Dad asked. "Yes."
"You're gonna stay that whole weekend right?" Aria asked with an excited smile. I really didn't plan to but I didn't want to wipe the smile off her face and disappoint her.
"Sure I'll stay. If you'll have me of course."
"Of course we would!" My mother exclaimed. "Mija How are your classes going?" Dad asked Aria.
Now that the attention was off of me, I turned my attention back to Luna. I felt like a creep but I couldn't keep my eyes off of her. She looked beautiful as always. Her curls were out and framing her plump face perfectly. The sun was hitting her face perfectly and made the brown of her hair shine. Her green eyes twinkled and her brown skin looked seamlessly smooth.
She laughed at whatever that kid said to her and Im sure the frown on my face was more than noticeable. They were on a date.
"We'll be planning our trip to Spain soon."
Those words made me turn my attention back to my parents. "So soon?"
"My mother has fallen ill. I had to straighten some things out with my passport, but I plan to go back the Monday after thanksgiving." Dad explained.
My father was born and raised in Oviedo, Spain. My grandparents still live there as well as all of my aunts and uncles. He grew up with virtually nothing as a child, only coming into real wealth when he was 30 years old. By then I was 13 and his influx of wealth came at seemingly perfect timing.
My mother however is third generation Mexican-American but if she didn't say it you would never know. She came from two wealthy dress designers. By the time She And My dad met her parents had died and my mom inherited all of her family's wealth. She was an only child so she didn't have to share the fortune.
"We were hoping that you two would come too. Of course we know you'll still be working Xavier but we would love for you to come for a few days. I'm sure your grandmother would love to see you. Especially if She is as sick as your uncle says." Mom explained.
"I will do my best to make arrangements. I probably won't be able to come until near Christmas time."
"That's perfect."
I nodded and let my eyes wonder back to Luna. I was so blatantly staring at her and I didn't feel bad about it either. I felt an odd sense of envy while I looked at her with The guy. I mean they looked good together but I couldn't help wondering what it would be like if I was sitting there with her instead. What would a date with her be like?
Well firstly I wouldn't bring her here. The place was cute and quiet but more of a quick place to go. I'd cook for her or maybe take her on a picnic. She liked history and art. So maybe I'd take her to a museum.
"How is Jordan doing?" Mom asked. "He's doing alright. Annoying as always. But he helps me branch out." I shrugged.
"That's good. Maybe one day he'll help you get a girlfriend." Aria mumbled. "Hey!"
"What? I was just saying. I don't think you necessarily need help, but he could introduce you to someone."
"She does have a point. Haven't seen you with a girl since Liliana." Mom sighed. "I'm not in a rush." I shrugged.
"You ought to be. You're not getting younger. You're basically knocking on deaths door." Aria dramatized. "If that's the case, what are we?" Dad asked her.
"You're 50 and moms 53, you're basically the crypt keeper. It's giving undertaker at this point."
"¡Aye mija!"
"You are a fool." Mom laughed. "Speaking of Liliana, How has she been?"
"I don't know mom, I haven't really been keeping tabs on her." I huffed. "You ought to be. I'm still holding out hope for you two."
Liliana Johnson and I broke up almost two years ago after having been together for 6 years. We met in law school, and she quickly became my everything. I loved her with everything I had and I won't lie and say all of that love had gone away even after not being in contact for two years.
We loved each other but the relationship was just... a lot. It was hard in a way that it shouldn't have been. Our careers sadly got in the way and we just went through a lot. But she was my first love. I've moved on, despite how hard it was after all we went through.
"I feel like it was a case of being with the right person at the wrong time. You may meet again someday." Aria chimed in.
