Xaviers POV
I can't focus.
Ive been trying for the past hour and i just can't. The smell of her perfume and the sight of her looking so focused on her studies demanded my attention more than the grades of my students.
I watched her roll her neck for the third time. she reached up and pushed her hair from her shoulder so she could massage the side of her neck. How did she manage to make such a small gesture look so good.
Her eyebrows furrowed a bit which told me that she was confused. "You okay?"
"Yeah im just slow apparently." She joked. I let out a soft laugh and sat down the pen i was using while pretending to work. "What are you working on?"
"i'm trying to work through the study guide for my statistics class. I'm horrible at it so it's taking way longer than it should."
"Stat for Psych?"
"Yeah."
"I could help you out if you want." I offered. I didn't know how I could but i didn't resist the urge to offer assistant. It was genuinely just an excuse to get close to her.
"I'd never deny help with this." She replied with a shy smile.
A smirk made it's way onto my face and I stood from my seat to sit beside her. "Alright let's see it."
I took a seat and kept good distance between so that i didn't make her uncomfortable. I did my best to explain the problems and help her to answer them. much to my surprise she got 98% when she submitted the assignment. I'd forgotten majority of what i knew from stat for psych, but I just wanted to be near her so i really tried my best.
"You are a life saver." She praised with a bright smile. "I try my best. Was that all you needed to do?"
"Yeah, for now. I can start on those emails now though."
I nodded and as badly as I didn't want to I got up to sit at my desk. I heard her let out a quiet sigh as I rounded the desk and I snuck a peek at her. She was rubbing her neck once again as if she had a crick in the area. "You good?"
"Yeah, my neck has been hurting since this morning. But it's nothing i can't handle." She faked a smile.
i furrowed my eyebrows and smirked. Instead of sitting down I approached her once again and held my hand out for her when i was a few steps away. she looked at my extended hand and then up to my eyes. "Stand up." I instructed calmly. She tried to wipe the weary expression off of her face but I could tell she was nervous. "Let me help you."
She took my hand anyway and allowed me to pull her up. I easily spun her around so that her back was facing me. She let out a softest gasp as I did so, I almost missed it. "When I was younger my mom used to have me massage her neck all the time. She told me that because she was old her neck didn't work as well as it used to." I shared.
She let out a soft laugh and shook her head. "I think alls parents use their kids as personal masseuses. My dad used to make me walk on his back."
I chuckled at her response and carefully lifted my hands. As soon as my hands made contact with her shoulders I asked, "Is this okay?"
"Yeah." She replied quietly. "Tell me more about your family." I said as I massaged her neck.
She sighed softly before she spoke. "Well, I dont admit it a lot, but I'm absolutely a daddy's girl. Growing up because I was so shy my dad would sit in my classes with me. and the tantrums I threw when I was away from him too long were horrible."
"Really? How'd he convince the school to let him do that?"
"He applied to be a teaching assistant and asked to be placed in my class. I had horrible anxiety so they let it slide." She explained. "What about your mom? What's she like?"
"She's the most caring and kind women you'd ever meet. She's a workaholic though. Never saw someone as dedicated to their job as her."
"What's does she do?"
"She's a social worker." She answered. "It's sounds like you have an amazing family."
"I mean i didn't want to brag or anything."
I laughed softly and moved my hand a little to massage her neck better. Her back arched involuntarily ever so slightly and she released the softest moan. It made my eyebrows raise in surprise and had to fight to stop my mind before it could fall into the gutter.
"This the spot?"
"Mhm." She hummed. "down a little." she instructed. I did as told and the way her body responded to my touch made me want to do unspeakable things. "Right there." She whispered.
The tone of her voice made my body want to react in the worst ways and the only thing willing away the reaction was shear self control. "What about your family? What are your parents like?"
"Well my dad is probably the funniest guy I know. He's really hardworking and I hardly see him without a suit on. He's the reason why I wanted to be a lawyer. I always thought of him as a superhero as a kid."
"Aww. What about your mom?"
"She's amazing. My parents met when my dad was struggling a lot and she was willing to give up everything she had so that he could succeed. I've never seen someone have so much faith in another person. It's like she just knew every dime she invested in him he'd make it back tenfold." I told her.
"That's so cute. I need that kinda person in my life." She laughed. "What does your mom do?"
"She's a designer."
"The very, very expensive kind of designer?" She asked skeptically. "I mean, not that expensive."
"Oh really, what's her brand called?" She asked. "Lourdes Nixon New York."
"I'm gonna look that up later."
"I don't doubt it." I chuckled.
We stood in silence for a few moments before I spoke again. "How's it feel now."
"A lot better. Thank you."
"Anytime." I told her. I let my hands fall from her shoulders and she turned to meet my gaze. "You mean it?"
"Of course I do."
"I'm gonna hold you too that. Now let's get to work."
