Stephanie walked back over to the table and sat down. "Sorry, guys, I saw an old friend."
"An old friend, huh?"
"Yea."
"I know who you were talking to, and I know why. I overheard you."
"Oh god, Christy, let's go somewhere and talk privately, please."
"I'm going home. Sarah, if you are riding with me, we need to go."
"What is going on?"
"Look, stop. Let's all go back to Stephanie's and discuss this," Brianna said.
"Um, I am totally lost; I am going to head back to the dorm. I got the tab, everyone be safe, and it's best to talk it out." He hugged everyone and headed to the bar. He paid the tab and left.
Dave was watching what was going on, he knew something had happened. He saw them all get up to leave. She walked by Dave and hugged him, "Bye, Dave, my friend overheard us talking about Jordan, and now she is upset. This could ruin his career, so I have to try and fix it."
"Okay, call me if you need anything; you are family. Take care, and he will be fine."
She walked outside and got in the car with Brianna and Cassie, Sarah and Christy followed behind them to her house. She went in and turned on some lights. She checked the answering machine; luckily, she hadn't missed his call. He was probably still performing.
She kicked her shoes off and sat down between Bri and Cass. She looked at Sarah and Christy as she tried to figure out what to say. They had been friends for two years, and she had hidden this from them.
"I am truly sorry you found out like that. I have hated having to keep this a secret from you, but his manager said no one was to know. The only reason Cassie and Brianna know is that we dated all through high school; he proposed the night we graduated.
"I wasn't allowed to tell you, not because I didn't want to, but because I wasn't allowed. That was his brother Dave, and he didn't realize it was me until I turned around; then we were both so shocked, and I couldn't let him slip up, so we walked off."
"I am shocked that you and Jordan are engaged like you are going to marry Jordan Knight, and the fact that you didn't think you could tell us hurts."
"I wasn't allowed. I mean, I literally had to sign a nondisclosure agreement, and so did they. You can't tell anyone, and I mean anyone. This could ruin his career, or at least that's what Maurice says."
"So, you didn't break up in high school, that was a lie?"
"No, we did break up at the beginning of our senior year for three months; he dated another girl, and I dated another guy, then we got back together, and it really was over him not being around. All of that was the truth; we just omitted the getting back together part, and his middle name is Marcel, so once again, not a lie but not the whole truth."
"Same with a traveling artist, but he's a performer. So, it's okay because you told us half-truths; we shouldn't be upset?"
"No, you shouldn't be upset because I had no choice but to lie. I need you both to promise me that you won't tell anyone, not your friends, classmates, not even your family. You can't tell anyone that Jordan and I are engaged."
"Well, we haven't signed anything, so we are free to do and say what we want. So, at the show, when you went to tutor Joey, you went to get busy with him?"
"Yes, but that wasn't the intention. It was so we could talk; he had something to tell me, which was the schedule for the tour, which is way longer than either of us planned, and he was afraid that I was going to dump him after what happened in high school."
