Twenty-six days later:
Joe had flown home for Michelle's birthday; he flew in at two and had to leave out at six the next morning. We spent the entire night making love and talking.
He finally showered so he could catch his flight. He had a cab picking him up since we had all four kids still sleeping.
I walked him to the door, kissed him goodbye, and waved until he was out of sight. Then, I went back to bed, cuddled up to his pillow and drifted off to sleep.
He did the same for Stefan's birthday, so this separation wasn't so bad; we weren't away from each other for very long.
Both kids were so happy when Joey arrived. We surprised them as he text me when he landed, and then he knocked on the door. Their faces just lit up like a Christmas tree, and they both hugged him.
He said the cruise was good, but he wished I was with him. He made me a promise they would switch the dates up so that I could be there next year. We went to dinner and let the Birthday girl and boy choose. We opened a few presents and then saved some for their birthday party, which Joey wouldn't be able to attend.
Jordan didn't fly in for either of the kid's birthdays. Joe said he and Evie weren't getting along, and he just didn't want to deal with her. I already knew they were having problems because she came over several times a week.
She said she was having a hard time dealing with Dante by herself, and Jordan told her she needed to stop depending on him so much. You have one child; look at Steph; she has four two nine-month-old twins, a seven-year-old and a ten-year-old.
She cooks, cleans, takes care of all four of them, and has even managed two birthday parties while we have been gone. Which, I had some help; everyone came over and helped me take care of the kids and even just to give me a break. I don't think nobody except Marlene has even gone over to Evie's.
It's my birthday, and I know Joe is on his way home. He already landed and is in a cab. He is going to do the same as he has done to surprise the kids, knock on the door, and I let them answer the door.
There is nothing I love more than seeing the bond between him, Michelle, and Stefan grow. They absolutely adore him, and he adores them. He doesn't treat them any differently than he does the twins.
Joey said Jordan was being sarcastic when he returned from the kid's birthday dinners. He thought he was just upset because Joe made the time, and he didn't. Joe even offered that he could stay the night at our house instead of going to his.
Jordan responded, no, thank you. I don't want to hear you and Steph going at it all night. Joe didn't let that stop him from coming home.
Tonight, Jean is going to come over and watch the kids while he takes me out to dinner. The tabloids were blowing up with pictures of us during both of his trips home. Lies from Joe had quit the band, his wife couldn't handle him being away, to he was home to finalize our divorce.
Just then, someone knocked on the door, and both kids jumped up and ran to the door. They opened, and there stood Joe with gifts for both of the kids. They jumped up and down, screaming.
"Daddy's home, Mommy, Daddy's home."
Joe would hug both kids, then he walked in, sat his backpack down, and kissed me. He would then pick up the twins and hug them.
He sat the babies down and wrapped his arm around my waist, "Happy birthday, baby girl. I have missed you so much, I love you." Then he leaned in and kissed me again.
"Thank you, baby. I missed you, and I love you more." Stefan and Michelle already took off; they didn't want to see us kissing. Joe tipped my head back and kissed my neck.
