Three weeks later:

Steph is getting back to normal, Michelle finished her time at Cheer camp, and she earned four awards. Most energetic, most enthusiastic, most helpful, and fastest learner.

Steph and I took her school shopping, and tomorrow is her first day of Middle school. Our baby girl isn't a baby anymore, she is a young lady. No matter what, she will always be my baby girl, she may not be my blood, but she is my daughter.

She has her first pep rally in three weeks just before her first game. She is excited to make new friends and see her old friends as well.

Jordan, Steph, and I are going to take her to school, we will drop Stefan off first and then take her to school. My parents are keeping the twins tonight since they know tomorrow is her first day in middle school and the court hearing for the jerk who almost killed my wife.

Jon is going to come and stay with Steph while Jordan and I face the monster who made the mistake that almost claimed my wife's life.

Stefan and Michelle both wanted to speak, but they had school, so they wrote letters to be read in front of the judge.

We saw her orthopedic surgeon, and her ribs are healing well, and her leg is not completely healed. He put her in a walking boot with the cast and gave us a knee scooter so she can be semi-mobile. The part of her leg that is broken is between her knee and her ankle, so the cast stops below the knee.

The next morning, Jordan arrived looking like he just climbed out of bed and rolled into his car. He doesn't look like he slept much.

"Hey, J, you look rough."

"Yea, you could say that. Evie was sick all night, and Dante was as well. So I was up most of the night with them and then stressed that today is not only my firstborn baby's first day of freaking Middle school but having to face the asshole in court who almost took her mother from us. I can't believe that my little baby is going to Middle school. How the hell did that happen?"

"I know, it's crazy that our baby is growing up, and I don't like it one bit. I miss the little girl who use to run into my arms and sit in my lap. Time is a thief; all of our kids are growing up too fast. Yea, I am hoping I don't try to choke him when I see him."

Michelle came down the steps in a blue jean skirt just above her knee, a pink top, and a denim jacket. She is wearing her white high-tops. She had curled her hair and had makeup on.

"Um, why are you all dressed up, looking like you are ready to go to a club instead of school?" Jordan asked.

"I don't look like I'm going to a club, Daddy. Mama helped me pick it out, she said I looked pretty."

"Yea, well, your Mama dressed just like that back in the day and look what happened to her. She married me, and I don't want you with someone like me."

"Daddy, you are silly. I am twelve. I am not even thinking about marriage right now."

"You do look a lot like your Mom, your hair is darker than hers, but dang, I felt like we stepped back in time," Joe said.

"Well, thank you, Dad. If you say, I look like Mama, that is a very high compliment because she is beautiful."

"I was three years older than you when I met your Mom. We weren't thinking of marriage at that time either. Altho, I always knew I would marry her and I finally did. Just be careful; please promise your old man you will be careful and not fall for the wrong guy."

"Daddy, I promise I will be careful. You have to accept the fact I am growing up, I'm not a baby anymore. Mom said I could wear makeup when I started Middle school. I wear a bra and everything."
