July 1999:
Stephanie, Christy, and Sarah decided to go to a summer concert in Wantagh, NY. Sarah had won tickets, and so they got all dressed up and drove to the concert.
Stephanie knew it was N-Sync and The Sugarhill gang, but not that Jordan was in the lineup. They had VIP tickets since she won them at work.
When they arrived, they went to the VIP entrance and gave the worker their tickets; they were shown through a separate entrance and taken into a VIP lounge.
She picked out an N-Sync shirt. She stopped suddenly when she saw a Jordan Knight CD.
"Um, guys, why is there one of Jordan's CDs here?"
"Look, he is performing here as well, but I knew you wouldn't come if you knew that, so we just didn't tell you," Christy said.
"Besides, it's been eight years, Stephanie. It's time to move past it and enjoy the show. I mean, he has had a couple of girlfriends, altho they didn't last very long, a few months here, a few months there. That doesn't necessarily mean it's because he is still in love with you. Are you still in love with him?" Sarah asked.
"I never stopped loving him, but I ruined that because I didn't like the tour schedule, and even though the band broke up, he is still touring. So, love isn't always enough. He finally got his solo career. I am sure several of his songs are about me and us. I can't hear them knowing I broke his heart when I left eight years ago."
"Well, we are here, and we are going to enjoy some great music. Now, let's go to the VIP lounge and get some food. I am starving. Besides, we are here for the night," Christy stated.
She heard his voice as it played on the speaker in the lounge; it was a song called, close my eyes, and she knew he had written this one about her. She started crying as she listened to the lyrics and could feel the pain in his heart. He hated her, and she could completely understand why.
A few other songs played then, one called, change my ways, and she knew this one was also about her; then a song called, Broken by You, and this one had her crying hysterically. She took off to the bathroom.
She was running so fast she left Christy and Sarah. She couldn't believe he had written these songs about her and how she hurt him. She never meant to hurt him that bad she just wanted to let him work on his career and her on hers. He said love still remains. Does he still love her even after all these years?
He feels something for her; he just released these, and she could tell the ones he had written about her after she left him. She was a horrible person to have broken his heart as she did.
She fixed her makeup and walked back to the table. They both looked at her, "do you feel better?"
"I can hear the pain in his lyrics, the pain I caused because I wanted to be selfish. I cowardly ran from him, I left him a note, my ring, and our house key. I couldn't even tell him face-to-face. You wanna know why?" They both shook their heads. "Because I wouldn't have been able to go through with it. Yes, it's been eight years, but I still miss him like crazy, and I still cry every night. I didn't just break his heart; I broke mine as well."
Jordan was walking by the VIP room when he heard a voice that sounded like his Stephanie's, and he stopped. He listened to what she was saying, "There was no way she was here at his concert, and saying she still cries every night and her heart is still broken. He needed to talk to her, but he didn't want to scare her off before the concert.
He knew that if she ever heard the album, she would know what songs were about her; he guessed she had not bought the album for the fear of hearing my songs and the pain I went through after she left me.
