Today our baby girl is getting married. We spent the next ten days calling and making sure everything was scheduled. Joe and Jordan were writing checks to vendors for the wedding. Michelle was a nervous wreck, and so was Lukas.
Today our baby girl will no longer be Natalie Michelle Knight; she will become Mrs. Lukas Ryan Smith.
She talked to me last week about them wanting to try for a baby next year once they had been married for a year and had their careers on track. So, I am at least happy I am not going to be a grandma right now.
She has been getting her hair fixed for the last thirty minutes. She asked her sister Kira to be her Matron of Honor, her friends Sarah and Becky, Danny's daughter Chance and Vega are her bridesmaids.
Lukas's best man is Stefan; Dante, Eric, Griffin, and Seth are his groomsmen. Danny's granddaughter Rose is the flower girl, and Lukas's nephew Shaun is the ring barrier. That is the wedding party. I have to go get my dress on. We scheduled Michelle's hair and makeup to be done last so she wouldn't have so much time to freak out.
I walk into the dressing room and see Michelle. Her hair is in a bun at the back of her head, with little strands hanging down her back that are curled. Her makeup is glittery in light colors, she looks beautiful. They placed the veil on top as they fixed her hair. She ordered a special veil, it is a tiara covered in rhinestones that has small amounts of tulle on her neck.
"Oh, Michelle, you look gorgeous, baby girl. He is not going to know what hit him when he sees you for the first time. Do you want me to help you into your dress, sweetheart?"
"Please, mama and thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for all of us all of our lives. Thank you for always being there and allowing me to talk to you even tho it made you uncomfortable. You are my best friend, and I am so thankful for you and for my life."
"Oh, sweetie, you are so very welcome, but thank you for being such a perfect kid; you guys have made life pretty easy. Your dad always made me the bad parent, but in the end, I earned your respect by not allowing you to get away with everything. I am so thankful that God chose me to be your mama and your three siblings as well. You guys have been such a blessing in my life. You, my sweet baby girl, are my best friend as well. I will always be your mother first and your friend second. Now let's get you into your dress."
Steph helped her get into her dress and placed her shoes on. She smiled at her daughter standing there, ready to become a wife to the man that she loved. She hoped that Lukas would always remain devoted to her daughter because she really liked him. She hugged her and then went to get her dress on. She put her shoes on first, then slipped into her dress.
When she walked back out, all the girls were in there looking great and ready for the wedding to start. She walked to her two daughters and hugged them both. She had chosen blue and yellow as her colors. The girls were in rotating colors, so Kira was in blue, Becky was in yellow, Sarah was in blue, Chance was in yellow, Vega was in blue, and Rose was in yellow. The guys would be different; if a girl were wearing blue, the guy would have a yellow vest and tie. She did an amazing job of arranging her wedding.
Just then, someone knocked on the door, and Steph walked over and opened it. She saw both of the men she had loved standing there smiling at her. Her dress was blue with yellow flowers Joe and Jordan had matching suits with the exception of their vests and ties. Joe had a yellow vest with a blue tie, and Jordan had a blue vest with a yellow tie.
"Is our baby girl ready? Can us dads see her?" Jordan asked.
"Yes, Jordan, she is ready, and yes, you can both see her." She stepped back, and they both walked in.
